Con Heiress is the 8th episode of the 17th season of Family Guy.
Plot
Stewie and Brian compete for the inheritance of a wealthy, older heiress; Peter and Chris battle for Mr. Herbert's affection.
Why It Sucks
- It is just another "Brian dating someone and then breaking up in the end" episode (except brian didn't break up at the end).
- The only reason he is doing this is for his own greed, much like in other episodes with this recycled plot.
- This episode literally only exists to further show how much Brian and Stewie have usurped the entire show.
- The unfunny subplot about Peter and Chris fighting for Herbert's infection.
- it is also similar to "The Courtship of Stewie's Father", but with the fun removed.
- Peter is unlikeable for trying to compete with Chris for Herbert's affection, portraying him as a man-child yet again.
- We get a lousy musical number by Herbert that goes on for a little too long.
- Pip's full name is really long: "Margaret Woolworth Carrington von Schumacher Chanel Astor Livingston Compte de Saint-Exupery Mountbatten Windsor Armani Roosevelt Von Trap Wykenhamp Hearst Montgomery Rothschild Johnson & Johnson Twillsworth Dolce Gabbana Von Zweiger II Montgomery de LaRoche Geico Vanderbilt Lannister van Buren Butterworth How I Met Your Mother Wrigley Louis-Dreyfus Ludwig Morgan Stanley Dumont Lamborghini Forbes Higbee Winthrop Chanel Remy Martin Fitzwilliam Kennedy Motel Six Fairchild Brook Pritzker Davenport von Stolen Monty Python Ellisworth Aston Martin Haverbrook Ziff Launder Hilton DuPont Kinkaid Winslow Coors Oviatt Marlborough Pembroke Huffington Bush Mellon Sinclair Mellencamp Starbucks van Dyke III Montgomery Marriott Barrington Chadsworth Big League Chew Chesterfield Kensington Boothbishop Longbottom Nottingham Meisterberg Burgermeister Tudor Hapsburg Rockefeller Onassis."
- It doesn’t sound like a real name at all because it consists mostly of famous last names and obvious product placements.
- This name is said thrice in the episode. Furthermore, each time the joke is done it takes 45 seconds to completely run through.
- If you add the time up, it amounts to about 2 minutes and 15 seconds lost just so they can say some long name.
- Plot-Hole: Is Herbert stupid enough to believe that Peter is a child? He already meet him several times before.
Redeeming Qualities
- To some extent, the ending is kind of clever.
- Stewie, Quagmire, and Chris are likeable in this episode, and Quagmire isn’t flanderized like he usually is.
- The "Pip's name" joke was kind of funny, but only the first time. It can come off as funny to some people the second and third times.
- Hebert's musical can be good.
Reception
The episode received fairly negative reviews, along with a score of 5.6/10 on IMDb. PhantomStrider reviewed this episode, and listed it as the fourth worst Family Guy episode from 2015 to 2020.
Trivia
- Herbert dies in this episode, although he just comes back as a plant.
