Cordy 2 is a 2013 2.5D platform game developed and published by SilverTree Media for Android and iOS on February 7th, 2013. It is the sequel to the original Cordy game and Cordy Sky. However, it along with the rest of SilverTree Media's mobile games were delisted from both Google Play and the Apple App Store on December 8th, 2017. (more information about it below)

Why It's Still Awesome

1. The graphics look pretty nice for a mobile game, and almost resemble the graphics from games such as Super Mario Galaxy, despite the aforementioned game releasing nearly 6 years before this one.
2. Very fluid and smooth controls that are an improvement over the first game's controls.
   • Cordy now has the ability to double jump, instead of floating mid-air for a couple of seconds.
   • He can also get speed boosts by jumping off ledges of certain platforms.
   • The physics have also improved, as Cordy falls down slower.
3. MagnetBot, CopterBot, SmashBot, and Volt are all very useful throughout certain levels and also have very unique and creative designs.
   • MagnetBot allows you to gain a burst of speed and run on walls, much like Sonic the Hedgehog.
   • CopterBot has his own stages where you use him to fly throughout the level, with Jetpack Joyride-esque gameplay.
   • SmashBot sends out a shockwave that breaks block that are in his path, and as well as bouncing objects away.
   • Volt allows you to use him as a jetpack to fly throughout certain levels.
4. Great and catchy soundtrack that manages to capture the robotic and upbeat theme and tone of the game perfectly.
5. Cordy himself is a pretty cute and likable protagonist.
6. The game now has double the content of the first game, as there are now over 52 levels, with 30 main levels, 10 for each world, 16 bonus levels, and 7 challenge levels, offering more challenge and replay value.
7. The free version of the game has no ads whatsoever!
8. All 3 worlds of the game look very nice and are visually appealing to look at, such as Harmony Harbor, which is based on China.
9. For each level, a full trio of stars can be obtained by completing the level, collecting all Zaps, and speedrunning. Collecting stars will allow you to unlock challenge levels, which get more and more difficult after each world, with the hardest one being the level 3-7 challenge.
10. The bonus levels require you to solve puzzles that get more difficult as you go on, offering more challenge to the game.
11. Introduces new characters such as the Gearbots and Boogaloo.
12. Like in the first game, you can customize Cordy with costumes/accessories. However, they all cost real money, as stated in BQ #2.
13. The game ends on a decent cliffhanger that hints a sequel to the game, however, there is none as of now.

Bad Qualities

1. The full game used to cost $5, which some have complained is a bit too overpriced for this game.
2. For some reason, all of the costumes/accessories (except for the Boogie Suits) cost actual money like the first game, instead of them costing Gears like in Cordy Sky, meaning that if you bought both the base game and all of the costumes, it would cost almost $50, which is the same price as a retail game.
3. On December 8th, 2017, the game, along with the rest of SilverTree Media's mobile games were all removed from both Google Play and the Apple App Store for an unknown reason. This is due to SilverTree Media being bought out by GSN Games, a company who mainly makes slot-machine/casino games, and neither the former or latter company gave any explanation on why the games were removed, and it seems that SilverTree Media has presumably gone defunct, as there have been no new games from them since 2013, and they are not active on any of their social medias. However, the original Cordy game is still available on both the Amazon App Store and the Microsoft Store.

Reception

Cordy 2 received positive reviews, with the game currently having an 84% on Metacritic via 9 critic reviews, and has a 4.29/5 "average" rating on GameFAQS via 7 ratings for the Android version, while the iOS version has a 4.14/5 rating. The game was also featured on Google's "Top Android Games of 2013" list.

Cancelled Sequel

Since the game ended on a cliffhanger, it is possible that there was going to be a sequel to the game. But it still has yet to see the light of day as of 2022, due to the aforementioned things above. However, an independent game development studio by the name of "Nim Games" is currently working on a fan-made sequel to Cordy 2 titled Cordy 3.
