Crash Bandicoot: The Huge Adventure is a platform game published by Universal Interactive Studios and developed by Vicarious Visions for the Game Boy Advance. It was released in North America on February 25, 2002, in Europe on March 15, 2002 and in Japan on July 18, 2002. A sequel to this game called Crash Bandicoot 2: N-Tranced was released in 2003.

Why It's A Huge Adventure Indeed

  1. The game perfectly added almost all the features in the original Crash games and successfully made them in the game. Crystals, Gems, and Relics all function just like in the PlayStation games.
  2. It works very well as a 2D Crash game since the 3D games were already built like 2D platformers.
  3. Just like Crash Bandicoot: Warped, Crash obtains multiple abilities, such as the Tornado Spin, Double Jump, etc. by defeating a boss.
  4. The powerups get plenty of utility for discovering secrets in levels.
  5. Many classic villains return.
  6. Lots of levels with high replay values.
  7. Fair challenge that isn't too easy nor unfairly hard.
  8. Good soundtrack.
  9. Tight and responsive controls.
  10. Colorful and detailed graphics for a Game Boy Advance title.
  11. If you 100% the game you can play against an additional final boss, a first for the series.

Bad Qualities

  1. Almost all level themes and even the level portals and some pictures are recycled from Crash Bandicoot: Warped.
    • The same thing goes for the levels design, most of them are recycled from Crash Bandicoot 2.
  2. Even though the songs are good and enjoyable, most of them have downgraded remixes of songs from Crash 2 and 3. The themes of some bosses aren't in the right order either.
  3. Feels short in comparison to the Crash Bandicoot games on consoles, with only 25 levels (5 of which are bosses).
  4. Slight screen-crunch occasionally makes platforms disappear mid jumps.
  5. If you grab a Gem or Crystal then die before reaching a checkpoint you'll have to grab them again.

Reception

Crash Bandicoot: The Huge Adventure received generally favorable reviews from critics. The game was praised for its graphics and overall design, but critics noted the game's lack of innovation.
