Crash Nitro Kart is a racing game released for the Game Boy Advance and N-Gage, developed by Vicarious Visions and published by Universal Interactive. The game was released on the PlayStation 2, GameCube and Xbox as well, however these play differently from the handheld versions, which is what this page will cover.
Why It Deserves The Nitro Trophy
- Unlike the console versions, this version is even closer to Crash Team Racing in terms of gameplay.
- Great controls and karts don't feel heavy.
- Tracks don't feel long like in the console versions.
- Great graphics for the GBA and especially the N-Gage.
- Cheat modes where you can make your kart smaller, lighter.....etc.
- At the cost of Pura and the forgettable Zam and Zem, all the bosses are playable in the game once you unlock them.
- In this version, Pura was replaced by Spyro the Dragon, making it the first time both characters appeared on the same game.
- The N-Gage version had online multiplayer, making it the first time Crash Bandicoot games had online.
Bad Qualities
Overall
- The soundtrack in the game is basically a 15 second loop of each track, which can get annoying and repetitive quickly.
- The Japanese version has a different and better soundtrack, which might be a sign of rushed development.
- Very few tracks (A problem with the console version as well).
- Regardless of which team you play with in the console version, there's no extra ending.
N-Gage version
- The N-Gage version has the camera following the character very closely it can be distracting.
- The online in the N-Gage version was dead on arrival (obviously due to N-Gage being dead on arrival as well).
