Crayon Shin-Chan 3: Ora no Gokigen Athletic is a mini games collection game, developed and published by Bandai in 1994, it is not a platform game this time and is the only game in the quatrilogy to be a mini games collection.
Good Qualities
- The gameplay here is changed from a generic 2D platform game to a fairly solid mini games collection, in which while the first two games were not bad, they were quite generic and doesn't do much with the platforming genre, but here the gameplay is even more fun, having a lot of variaty and more.
- A lot of the mini games are not only fun but also manage to be pretty hilarous at times and still had the humor from the show, which is rare for a Game Boy game to be funny, here it is mostly because this game had the concept of the show, and some of the mini games such as throwing bananas to your opponent is quite funny.
- Most mini games had solid controls, which make them very solid and thus you will not fail because of the controls.
- The difficulty is fairly challenging for some of the mini games, while still being balanced, at such it is slightly harder than the other Game Boy games.
- Catchy soundtrack, especially that it had the nostalgic feel of the Game Boy soundtrack, and because of this, the musics are even better such as in the mini games where you had to find your friends while dodging the pretty girls.
- Good graphics for a Game Boy game, sure the sprites are small but they are still well made and the game overall is quite detailled for a Game Boy game, it might be even better than the previous games on the Game Boy.
- Ton of variaty are found in the mini games, which is great for a Game Boy game since most Game Boy mini games collection don't had much to them but here not only the mini games game are well made but also the mini games are diffferent from each other, at such the game make sure to never bore you.
- A lot of characters from the show appear, such as Shinnosuke friends for exemples.
Bad Qualities
- Some of the mini games are still not great or boring, such as the one where you need to find the right model, which feel more like waiting, and that mini game is ridiculously easy, even for a Game Boy game.
- The game is still a bit too short, lasting only 30 minutes and it doesn't help that the game had no replay values since when you complete it, there's no other contents that you didn't played.
- At times, the game might be way too easy, in fact 50% of the game is way too easy, in fact if you lose a mini game, you will not even get punished and you can still continue the game before finally beating it, showing that the game might probably had no game over or anything like that.
- Only Shinnosuke is playable, which is a shame for a mini games collection, howewer it is justified due to the game being on a handheld.
