Croc is a 2000 platform game developed by Virtucraft and published by THQ using the Fox Interactive license on June 6, 2000.

Why It Sucks

  1. For starters, the main character Croc runs too fast, even for a platforming game, and it makes Sonic's running look bad by comparison.
  2. Getting onto a platform is tedious, making it harder to get used to the sluggish controls.
  3. Speaking of which, the controls are horrendous and they're a downgrade from the original game, as it suffers from slippery controls, and abysmal level designs.
  4. Generic enemies.
    • Also, some of the enemies cannot die unless you take damage, which is very unacceptable for Game Boy Color standards.
  5. The camera is in a fixed position, which makes jumping to the next platform a chore, and the worst of that.
  6. Picking up from WIS#3, when you attack while you're moving, you are guaranteed to fall off of platforms and into pits and lava throughout the level, depending on where you are.
  7. Some of the mini-games in the bonus stages are abysmal at best, and tedious at worst.
    • One perfect example would be the jigsaw puzzles. While it's not mandatory, the jigsaw puzzles can be described in just one sentence: It is the worst bonus stage mini-game of all time.

The Only Redeeming Quality

  1. While this remake wasn't executed well, it does at least try to replicate the original plot.

Reception

This 2D remake of Croc received mixed to negative reviews from critics and holds a score of 54% on Metacritic (when GameRankings was shut down in December 2019).
