DKOldies is a retro gaming shop website that was founded in 2004. The site used to be good back in the day, until 2022 when they sold used consoles for an expensive price.

Why It's A Rotten Banana

  1. The consoles that they sell, are used consoles that should be less than $20-50 on eBay or at a yard sale depending on the console.
  2. No quality control on what they sell, 95% of the time they will send you a used console that was not been refurbished with a third-party controller rather than an original controller.
    • In fact, one of the consoles that they sold to a YouTuber named Jacob R which was sold for a whooping $400, was filled with dust on the inside of the console.[1]
    • ReviewTechUSA was sent a rough PS2, that had a malfunctioning disc drive.[2]
  3. Their consoles are very overpriced, selling for way higher than they normally are for use. You can find a way cheaper used console on eBay for a very lower price, than buying off of DKOldies.
  4. Similar to GameStop, their buying prices are insultingly low. And if they bought it from you, they will just resell it for a higher price.
  5. Thanks to them, many people on eBay are overpricing their retro consoles and games to the extreme.
  6. They are quick to deflect criticism made against them. The most infamous example is a Shorts video they made where they call themselves "not a scam", resulting in it becoming a meme.
    • They had also made a video where they refurbished a Nintendo Wii as a way to respond to the criticism that their refurbishment process is a lie.
  7. They usually don't package their items correctly as shown in the videos, resulting in many customers complaining about their items being damaged upon arrival.

The Only Redeeming Quality

  1. They were a good website back in the day, that provided good service to their customers for a reasonable price.
