Death of Erin Moran

Erin Marie Moran was an American actress who was best known for her role as Joanie Cunningham on the ABC sitcom Happy Days and its spin-off Joanie Loves Chachi. On April 22, 2017, authorities in Corydon, Indiana were alerted about an unresponsive female, later identified as Moran. She was later pronounced dead at the age of 56. While her cause of death was initially assumed to be from substance abuse, her actual cause of death was later revealed to be from throat cancer. According to her husband Steven Fleischmann, Moran discovered that she had squamous cell carcinoma of the throat in December 2016. By February of 2017, after chemotherapy and radiation treatment, she could no longer speak, eat or drink and had a feeding tube.
