The game is in the vein of the well-known Dynasty Warriors series, in which the player battles crowd after crowd of hostile enemies. The unique aspect of the game is that up to 65,535 enemies can be on-screen at once.

Synopsis

It is set in feudal Japan in the 16th century and revolves around a priestess who has been given eternal youth until she exterminates all the demons. She has been given charge of a mystical beast from the gods, Inugami, which is controlled by the player.

Why it's Chaos (For Good Reason)

  1. For starters, the idea of hack n slash with over 65.000 enemies on screen is an impressive idea for a PS2 game.
  2. The plot is really unique, Inugami, a mystical beast will be rid all of the demons at once.
  3. The graphics are really great, the character and demon models are really details even for 2005-2007 standards.
  4. Speaking of performance, the performance is really balanced 60fps with no frame drops even if there's many enemies on screen, kind of like Asterix & Obelix XXL. It's impressive, considering the PS2 is capable for many enemies on screen, and developer will be optimized for console in minds, and it shows.
  5. The map did a good job to making thing gameplay easier. Most of the map are small, giving the time to make thing easier, but some map are big and can be challenging at some point.
  6. You can change the camera view if you don't like normal camera view.
  7. While RTS are really simplified, it did a good job to tell the forces to doing something objective.
    • This pillar is act like a pointer and it's unique, because you really need to adding pillar to Destroy Blood Crystal or certain objective.
  8. Inugami is a mystical beast, so it's practically invisible and no demons can attack you. the only demons that can attack is allies and forces.
  9. The combat is fun even if it's really repetitive. With this game, you can kill thousands of the demons at once.
  10. The Japanese voice acting is good, despite the fact that for the English version it's lack an English dub.

Bad Qualities

  1. Even if the combat is fun, it can be repetitive.
  2. Lack of the English dub for the English release, probably due to rushing publishing.
    • What's worse is this game was not released for the North America market, the game was exclusively released for Europe and Japan.
  3. The normal camera view is really annoying sometimes, although you can still change camera everything you want to better view.
  4. Some mission can be way too hard to beat.
  5. While the weapon are varied, they are actually the same.
