Digimon Data Squad, known in Japan as Digimon Savers (デジモンセイバーズ, Dejimon Seibāzu), is the fifth anime television series in the Digimon franchise, produced by Toei Animation. The series aired in Japan on Fuji TV from April 2006 to March 2007. A standalone film based on the series was released on December 9, 2006.
Summary
The Digital Accident Tactics Squad (DATS) is a government organization established to maintain the peace between the Real World and the Digital World, transporting any Digimon back to the Digital World. Marcus, a junior high school student, becomes one of the members for the organization. He learns that the Digimon Merukimon is opposing mankind. However, the past is revealed that the scientist Akihiro Kurata was responsible for invading the Digital World. He gained the support of the government to oppose all Digimon species, claiming they were a threat to mankind. When Kurata uses Belphemon, Marcus defeats them. Before dying, Kurata uses a bomb to make the Digital World merge with the human world. While the Digimon BanchoLeomon prevents the collision, Marcus meets King Drasil (Yggdrasil), the supreme ruler who attempts to protect the Digital World by destroying mankind, since they cannot exist in both dimensions. Marcus learns that his father, Spencer, was trapped in the Digital World for ten years, because Drasil possessed Spencer's body and BanchoLeomon kept the latter's soul. After Marcus defeats Drasil, Spencer's soul returns to his body. With both worlds restored, all Digimon partners return to their own world. Five years later, Marcus and his friends embrace their future.
Why It Rocks
- The idea of a human fighting a Digimon with his partner is great
- The main characters (Marcus, Thomas, Yoshi (not to be confused with the Super Mario character of the same name) and later Keenan) are likable, is the same with their respective Digimon (Agumon, Gaomon, Lalamon and later Falcomon) and others characters like Richard Sampson, Kudamon, Homer Yushima, BanchoLeomon and Spencer Damon
- Although some characters is not be great, a least as decent characters, like Homer's Kamemon, Miki and Megumi and her PawnChessmon, Sarah Damon, Kristy Damon and her Biyomon
- Also have a greatest villains, like Merukimon, SaberLeomon, MetalPhantomon, Gotsumon, Akihiro Kurata, Belphemon, (the two only true antagonists), the Bio-Digimons and Yggdrasil
- The conflict of the Digimon against of the humans is very executable
- His intros of Japan, are great, especially his second opening, Hirari
- His evolution themes are also great
- His ending are emotionally
- This is the first in a Digimon anime, to mention groups as The Seven Great Demon Lords (with Belphemon a member) and Olympic XII (with Merukimon a member)
- The new form of the Digimon, the Burst Mode, is incredible
- The Royal Knights are executable better than Digimon Frontier
- The final episode is great and emotional, despite what does look like the final episode of Digimon Adventure
Bad Qualities
- Characters like Kurata, Gotsumon (in the first saga), BanchoLeomon, Hashima and Kouki can be unlikable
- Kristy can be annoying in the first episodes
- The first episodes of the series are somewhat boring fillers.
- Memory is the First Thing to Go! can be the worst and weak episode of the series
- Some scenes can be innuendo, like the Bio-Digimons naked in Kurata's laboratory, a Tokoko poops in front of Yoshi, etc, thankfully thats scenes are censored
- But the censored of the episode, A Birthday Kristy Will Never Forget!, is the most stuppied, with a change of a Digimon bomb like BomberNanimon to a Digimon fruit called Citramon, is understand that bombs are not suitable for Americans, but changing it for a fruit, really Disney?
- Despite the final episode is great and emotional, is similar the final episode of Digimon Adventure
