Dude, That's My Ghost! is 2013 French-British animated television series produced by Gaumont Animation that airs in English on Disney XD in the UK and BBC Kids in Canada.
Plot
For Spencer Wright, a 14-year-old budding filmmaker, Beverly Heights is the ultimate thrill ride. But, being the new kid at a high school populated by Hollywood royalty, he’s an outsider with no ticket in. He's the kind of kid who gets his allowance in cash, not stock options; finding himself amid all this bling and stardom is intimidating. Luckily, he’s got an all-access pass in the form of his best friend, the ghost of pop star Billy Joe Cobra.
Good Qualities
- The premise is about Spencer becoming a popular filmmaker in Beverly Heights and becoming a star, which is amazing.
- Likable characters such as Spencer Wright, Billy Joe Cobra, Rajeev, Mallory, and many more.
- Lots of good episodes, even though it has one season:
- "Scaring Mallory"
- "The School of Rockers"
- "Bioptic Trap"
- "Sports Hero"
- "Billy Joe's Last Fan"
- "Billy Blob"
- "True Party"
- "Phantom of the Popera"
- "For the Birds"
- Colorful and appealing animation and art-style that is considered an improvement to Robotboy and Matt's Monsters.
- Great voice acting.
- The music is also great such as Billy Joe Cobra playing his guitar or other instruments.
- There are songs in some episodes which are great as well.
- Billy Joe Cobra has amazing powers and techniques such as playing guitar, spitting ectoplasm, etc.
- Like Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja and like Packages From Planet X, it captures what a lot of teenagers go through when Spencer reaches high school freshman year.
- However, it does not rehash the episodes from the said mentioned show and focuses on a different plot.
Bad Qualities
- Billy Joe can be unlikable at times.
- There are mean spirited moments such as Billy Joe Cobra scaring everyone due to their potential.
- A few bad episodes such as "Cuckoo's Nest", "A Trouble With Hairy", and "Reality Showdown".
- There are some unlikable characters such as Lolo, Kleet, and Principal Ponzi, but not too many.
- The show sadly ended in one season.
- The animation, while colorful and appealing, can look quite cheap and mediocre sometimes.
Reception
Dude, That's My Ghost! currently has a 5.7/10 rating on IMDb.[1]
