EA Sports FC 25 is an association football-themed simulation video game developed by EA Vancouver and EA Romania and published by EA Sports. It is the second installment in the EA Sports FC series, and the 32nd overall installment of EA Sports' football simulation games, and was released on 27 September 2024 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
Good Qualities
- Awesome soundtrack that gives out FIFA 10/15 vibes to people who played those games in the past.
- Although the game uses the Frostbite Engine (which is not a good engine for sports games due to it being made for FPS games and not sports games), the graphics are still really good.
- Decent, responsive controls for the most part.
- This game introduces the new 5v5 mode Rush, which is a great successor to the Volta mode, as the gameplay is basically the same as its predecessor, but on the pitch instead of in the streets.
- Not only that, but it also introduces FC IQ, the new tactical system that gives you more strategic control and freedom while while increasing gameplay variety, despite it being very glitchy sometimes.
- The UI interface is pretty good.
- The online mode is still great, despite being very unfair for those who didn't play a FIFA game before or even for those that are good at FIFA.
- The career mode is well done, just like the previous game.
Bad Qualities
- As usual with any game made by EA Sports, there's a lot of microtransations, but they aren't as bad here.
- The online mode, while fine, is quite unfair if you don't know how to play this game well.
- The Switch version is still a copypasted version of the previous game with the same problems.
Reception
Like the previous installment, the game received positive reviews by critics and mixed reviews by gamers. However, like the previous installment, it was review bombed on Metacritic.
