This port isn't so groovy as it seems, but at least it wasn't bad as GBA version..

Earthworm Jim is a run-and-gun platformer originally developed by Shiny Entertainment and published by Playmates and Virgin Interactive in 1994. The game was originally released for the Mega Drive and it spawned numerous ports including SNES, Sega CD, Game Gear and MS-DOS versions. Those versions were received very positively at the time. However, Eurocom developed and TecToy published a Master System version of the game exclusively for the Brazilian market in 1996. This page is focused on that version of the game.
Why It's Not Groovy
- While the graphics are okay at best, the backgrounds are just monochrome. The text and icons on the panel on the bottom are very pixelated with huge pixel panels looking only a step up from the Atari 2600. However, the Game Boy version doesn't have this kind of fonts.
- Jim is somewhat clunky to control, in fact he is more clunky to control than in the Game Gear port.
- Shooting and whipping are mapped to the same button, much like the Game Boy and Game Gear version.
- Sloppy hit detection.
- Frequent slowdown, not even the Game Gear port had this many slowdown.
- Content was removed due to space/hardware limitations: there's only 4 levels compared to the 7 that the other versions have (8 in the Genesis/Megadrive version).
- Not only that but the Game Gear port had all of the levels from the console versions, even the awful Master System port of Battletoads in Battlemaniacs have all of it's levels despite how awful they are in the Master System port.
- Due to WING#6, the port is extremely short, lasting only 25 minutes or at least 30 minutes.
Groovy Qualities
- The soundtrack is good
- The graphics are also okay..
