Everybody is Side-Fu Fighting is the A-part of the fifteenth episode of the first season of Sidekick, and the twenty-ninth episode overall.

Plot

Pamplemoose hires a new assistant to traumatize Eric and make him look like a fool in the academy's Side-Fu tournament.

Why Nobody Should Side-Fu Fight with It

  1. It is overall an 11-minute Eric torture episode.
  2. On that topic, it's also the "One Coarse Meal" of Sidekick because Pamplemoose uses his assistant, Sensei Jimmy, to scare Eric throughout the entire episode.
    • Speaking of Sensei Jimmy himself, he is completely unlikeable in fact, if not, one of the most unlikeable characters in the series, has an ugly character design, and talks in an ear-piercing voice.
  3. There are also some easily noticeable animation errors in this episode, such as a character's mouth not syncing properly with the words in some scenes.
  4. Eric's whiny nature in this episode was literally taken up to eleven, depicting him as a complete coward, especially when he gets frightened by Sensei Jimmy every single time he approaches him, which can easily get on viewers' last nerves.
  5. Many, many, many mean-spirited scenes, such as a majority of the scenes involving Pamplemoose and Vana bullying Eric non-stop; unlike other episodes where they usually get punished for their actions, they barely get punished.
  6. Very sluggish and inconsistent pacing.
  7. The bad guys win at the end of the episode, which is very unsatisfying.
  8. The episode opens with a fart joke, which is very unfunny.
  9. The characters can sometimes look pretty off-model in some shots compared to other episodes, like Eric in this picture.
  10. The whole concept of "Side-Fu" is just plain dumb: instead of fighting your opponent, you instead just beat yourself up, which makes no sense.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. As mentioned above, Eric also thinks that the whole concept of "Side-Fu" is just plain dumb (but in a comfortable way), even though the concept deserves it.
  2. Despite how bad the episode can be, there are some unintentionally funny moments like Sensei Jimmy kicking Pamplemoose to the wall.

Trivia

  • The episode title is a reference to "Kung Fu Fighting", the 1974 disco song by Carl Douglas.
  • This is the second time that one of XOX's henchmen has won against the sidekicks in an event. The first was "The Henchman Challenge".
  • This is the second episode to have shown a fading imagery of feces that hasn't been cut out when it aired on Cartoon Network. The first episode was "The Maxum Switch-eroo".
  • This is the first and the last appearance of Sensei Jimmy in this episode. According to Eric Needles on his YouTube account, he had died of natural causes.
