FIFA 13 is a 2012 association football video game developed by EA Canada and published by EA Sports. It is a fan-favorite installment in the series because of it's smoothness, fun gameplay, expansive game modes and the variety of leagues.

Why It Makes You Want To Play Soccer

  1. The gameplay is extremely smooth, fun and addicting.
  2. EA genuinely cared for all of the modes when this game was released, as all of the modes were given improvement over FIFA 12.
  3. A huge number of leagues and licensed teams to play as, such as AS Roma, Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, and more.
  4. Ultimate Team was at it's best in this game, as it wasn't overly pay to win, and you could easily make a profit by selling your players for a small price, this was also the last FIFA game to allow you to sell your starter team.
  5. Not many players feels like they are useless. A very small amount of players are useless.
  6. Most cards are also given decent value, some budget players such as Balotelli and Hernandez play very well.
  7. Despite the inclusion of packs, you could easily sell players without trouble to get some, and the feeling of pulling a good player was always amazing, as the pack rate was level in this game.
  8. Even career mode is very fun, especially if you play as Real Madrid or Barcelona.
  9. Scripting was not too much of an issue, very rarely would a game get scripted to help the opponent dominate the other.
  10. The stats of the players are usually accurate, so players like Ronaldo would feel as fast as they are supposed to, and the game is also mostly balanced.
  11. The game also introduced Team of the Season, a slightly weaker version of Team of the Year, which gave players a second chance to obtain players that are higher rated than their standard card.
  12. Using the Xbox 360's Kinect feature, the player can send voice commands such as commanding players to pass the ball to you, telling them to shoot or even changing tactics mid field.
  13. As usual with the FIFA franchise, the soundtrack is good, with indie rock, electronica, and world music.

Bad Qualities

  1. Some overpowered players, such as Esswein, Welliton, David Luiz, Reus, Ibarbo, Muriel, Felipe Santana and Emineke.
  2. Some underpowered players too, such as Weidenfeller, Julio Cesar, Vertonghen and Agger.
  3. Every time you want to change a formation, you have to buy formation cards for the team, too. So if you were playing in 4-1-2-1-2, and wanted to go to 4-3-3, you would have to buy 11 4-3-3 cards, which was thankfully fixed in FIFA 14.
  4. The servers were shut down by EA out of nowhere in 2017, relegating the players to Kick Off and Career Mode, which is not really that bad.
  5. Some players can be very expensive to sign in Career Mode, making it nearly impossible to sign players like Ronaldo or Messi.
  6. Handicap (which is different from scripting) can be annoying, because if you play against a silver team, your defense will go all over the place and the game will assist them even if they are not struggling.
  7. Somewhat clunky and outdated menu design. This was also fixed in FIFA 14.
  8. The game also introduced the infamous FIFA Points, which are overpriced to the brim, which made the game almost feel Pay-To-Win compared to FIFA 12, which would charge a painless $3 USD for a 15,000 Coin pack.

Reception

FIFA 13 received critical acclaim from critics and fans alike because of the awesome gameplay in particular. Eurogamer gave the game a 9/10. On Metacritic, the game has a weighted average of 88/100.
