Fake News is the 71st episode of season of season 7 as well as the 494th overall episode of Oggy and the Cockroaches.
Plot
When cockroaches post fake videos on the internet and pass themselves off as victims abused by Oggy, the reputation of the cat takes a shot, Jack and Oggy try to trick and trap the cockroaches in turn to restore the truth.
Why It's Fake News
- It's an incredibly harsh Oggy and Jack torture episode where Oggy gets framed for harming the cockroaches and the cockroaches act like the victims while Jack also has to take care of the roaches along with Oggy.
- The cockroaches are at their absolute worst in this episode since they make themselves look like innocent abuse victims just so they can have Oggy look bad, they later treat Oggy and Jack like slaves.
- And to make matter worst, Oggy and Jack did all the cockroaches wanted because they didn't wanted to get in troubles, showing how way too far they gone here.
- While true, the fact that they are unlikable is a good thing in many episodes but howewer here it isn't the case since their unlikable trait was taken way too far here.
- Olivia, Bob, and everyone else are also unlikable since they fall for the roaches' video.
- Speaking of Olivia, Olivia's scene is pointless since she just appears to get mad at Oggy for what he did and doesn’t appear again in the episode, in other words, it is nothing short than pure fillers.
- Several mean-spirited moments such as the cockroaches making Oggy and Jack angry and trying to harm them just so they can get them in trouble.
- Plot Hole: How does the peoples who hated them know were Oggy and Jack live ? Especially that this was never explained.
- There was a scene where Marky was trying to make it look like Jack was going to eat him just so he could get him in trouble with the police officer.
- The title card is very misleading since it makes you think that Oggy is going to be famous but instead it's about the roaches making Oggy look bad.
- In addition, it is one of the weakest looking title card of the entire series, as not only it isn't as colorful as the other title cards but also it is not that well detailled and as stated previously, it is misleading.
Redeeming Qualities
- Oggy and Jack are the only likable characters in this episode.
- The animation and music are still good.
- A few funny moments such as the roaches making Oggy and Jack bite each other's tails.
- Good ending: Oggy and Jack pretend to act like cute kittens and attack the roaches which causes Dee Dee to film them and have their reputation restored.
Reception
The episode is considered to be not only the worst season 7 episode but also one of the worst episode of the entire show, if not the worst.
Trivia
- The title and plot could be based on real life events of Donald Trump and his catchphrase "Fake News" on not only TV but also his false info across the web, along with other real life events related to false info.
