Fancy Pants is the first half of the 5th episode in the second season of The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, following Cuddle Trouble, it is the ninth episode of season 2, and is, overall, the forty-ninth episode of the show.

Plot

The episode starts with Flapjack and K'nuckles relaxing and eating candy at the Candy Barrel when they realize Peppermint Larry is opening a new section called the V.I.P. section. K'nuckles wants to go in, but Peppermint Larry says the only way to get in, is to wear fancy pants.

K'nuckles takes Flapjack to buy fancy pants in the V.I.P. section but they have no money. The shopkeeper tells them that there is indeed one free fancy pants but it is huge and you have to fit into it to get it. Outside the store, a hotdog seller offers them a candy-coated hotdog that is super fattening. K'nuckles ate a pile of them and became super fat. K'nuckles and Flapjack go back to the store and because of eating the hotdogs, K'nuckles fit perfectly into the pants. The shopkeeper congratulates K'nuckles by giving him a cane and a hat.

At the Candy Barrel, Peppermint Larry still would not let K'nuckles in, claiming to have known K'nuckles for far too long to do so. K'nuckles gives a long speech that moves the patrons of the V.I.P section and they chant for K'nuckles's entry, to which Larry finally does. K'nuckles' stomach then grumbles and he explodes, sending hot dogs all over the V.I.P section and drowning the Candy Barrel. Everyone is then seen on a floating piece of wood, with the V.I.P. section still intact. The episode ends with K'nuckles once again being refused entry.

Why It's Not Fancy

  1. This is a K'nuckles torture episode by the way somewhere where he is refused to enter the V.I.P section by Peppermint Larry.
  2. Peppermint Larry is an extremely unlikable character in this episode, because he won't let K'nuckles go to the V.I.P Section, and even after K'nuckles has the Fancy Pants and even has a change in heart, Peppermint Larry still refused to let K'nuckles enter, which is super hypercritical.
  3. The free pants that the shopkeeper showed look like where grandpa wore them.
  4. K'nuckles after eating too many candy-coated hotdogs look disgusting.
  5. Plot Holes: Why couldn't K'nuckles go to the bank and get money to get some pants?
    • How did the Candy Barrel not get destroyed after K'nuckles exploded for eating too many candy-coated hotdogs?
    • If K'nuckles ate too many candy-coated hotdogs, then he would get sick and have a stomachache.
  6. There is even a part when it shows blood after K'nuckles exploded, which is disturbing to watch towards kids.
  7. Bad Ending: K'nuckles gets exploded for eating so many candy-coated hotdogs, then hitting the V.I.P section customers and currently drowning the Candy Barrel and Peppermint Larry refuses K'nuckles to go to V.I.P section by saying. "no V.I.P for K'nuckie ever again!"

Fancy Qualities

  1. The animation in this episode is still decent.
  2. The scene where K'nuckles eats the candy-coated hotdogs can be funny sometimes.
  3. Flapjack, K'nuckles, and the characters, except for Peppermint Larry and the V.I.P section customers, were likable.

Trivia

  • Bubbie doesn't make an appearance in this episode.
  • This is the second time K'nuckles lost all his body parts other than his eyes, the first being in Hand It Over.
  • When K'nuckles blew up, the Candy Barrel turned red. This could've been blood.
    • It may have also been red liquid candy.

Reception

This episode got a 7.7 out of 10 rating on IMDb.
