Fashion Fotography is an episode of the 1960's Popeye cartoon.

Plot

Olive wishes for Popeye to photograph her for a fashion publication.

Why It Sucks

  1. Olive's behavior is particularly egregious, surpassing even her later portrayals by Famous Studios. Her aversion to photographs and cameras leads her to aggressively attack Popeye and Brutus. Additionally, she displays hypocritical tendencies, expressing a desire to have her picture taken but abruptly reversing her decision when complications arise.
  2. The animation is poor and limited, typical of this period.
    • Certain animation errors are noticeable, for instance, Popeye's eye being the same color as his skin instead of white.
    • Much of the animation is recycled, such as scenes of Popeye and Brutus rushing out of Olive's house.
  3. Some jokes don't quite hit the mark, such as Popeye winding up the camera, a gag previously seen in Disney's Goofy cartoon "Hold That Pose." However, the joke was executed with much better humor there than in this instance.
  4. Olive doesn’t get punished for how she treats Popeye and Brutus at the end.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Popeye and Brutus are the only likable characters in this short.
  2. The voice acting is still good as usual.
