Fight Fever is a fighting game developed and published by Viccom (a company who published SNK titles in South Korea) exclusively for the Neo Geo arcade systems. A Neo Geo CD version was in development but it was never released. Normally, it is regarded as a rip-off of Street Fighter and other fighting games, and one of the worst games of thn system.

Why It Sucks

  1. in terms of graphics its really inferior to what the Neo Geo is capable of, the low amount of colors and pixels, this is to the point of the game looking more like an Sega Genesis, SNES, or PC engine game.
  2. The animations are just pathetic, they have an incredibly low amount of frames, the character move in a really choppy way, for example the character Kim hoon, when he does his victory animation, in which he jumps with fis arm rised, he suddenly returns to the first frame of the animation and returns to the ground without even falling after the jump.
    • And when the character walk, it looks like they are barely moving at all.
  3. The sound design is also really terrible:
    • With the exception of some of the music, most of it feels like its way to similar to other titles, like for example the Art of Fighting games.
    • it also straight up, rips off sounds from other Neo Geo games, for example the sound after the last hit of the multi-hit special moves, was directly stolen from Art of Fighting.
  4. The controls are abominable:
    • to do the special moves you need to do the input really slow and precisely, this is really hard because, with the brutal enemy A.I. you dont have time to input the special moves in the way the game demands, and Super moves are even harder and can only be done when your health is in red.
    • the response of the controller is unrealiable at best, sometimes the character doesnt execute the move corresponding to the player input, other times it outright executes a completely different move and in rare cases the character does something without the player's input.
    • The movement is also strange, beign slow and suddenly accelerates on it own, this happens mostly while jumping.
  5. The difficulty is terrible, the CPU is one of the nastiest in any fighting game ever made, they are extremely aggressive, and outright use cheap tactics, like spamming fireballs, or trapping you in endless loops, for example the character Golrio can trap you in an endless loop of graving you, rolling toward you character, and grabing you again, until you die.
  6. The gameplay is a disaster:
    • There are no combos at all, when they were already a thing in older games.
    • The game might just have the worst hurtbox and hitbox programing ever in a fighting game, attcaks that should land, dont land at all, while others that shouldnt, do land with ease, an example is the with the character Miyuki, she has an attack in which she leaps foward, grab the opponent and scrach it many times, and due to the bad programing, the attack lands even if the enemy is high on the air, in a place where it definetely shouldnt hit, and the cherry on top is that the resulting animation has Miyuki scratching an invisible opponent, while the enemy on the air, is receiving damage from an invicible force, and the visual effect is located between the legs of the character.
  7. The characters suck hard, they are extremely similar to characters from other fighting games and are extremely cliche, their designs are unappealing and many of their special moves are extremely similar to the ones of other games, some examples are:
    • Master Taekuk looks a lot like Jubei from Fatal Fury 2 just taller.
    • Han Baedal is just a korean Ryu and his moveset is a combination of the later with Ryo Sakasaki from Art of Figthing.
    • Kim Hoon, look incredibly similar to Ryo Sakasaki only his costume is blue, also his moveset is identical to Han Baedal, and as an extra he is supposed to be Mexican.
  8. The ending is lame, is just pictures of all the characters after the tournament.
  9. The winning quotes are poorly translated, and have broken english.

The Only Redeeming Quality

  1. Some of the music is passable.
