"Fire-Fighting Smurfs" is an episode that appeared in Season 6 of the Smurfs cartoon show.
Synopsis
Snappy unintentionally causes a forest fire.
Why It Fights Fire
- This episode teaches a valuable lesson about being safety about fire.
- Snappy Smurfling is very likable as he starts caring for the animals that got injured during the forest fire.
- Almost everyone (except for Jokey, Painter and Dreamy) appear in this episode.
- The scene of the Smurfs cutting down the trees to stop the fire is an entertaing scene.
- Like "Lure of the Orb", This episode avoided wasting potential.
- This is considered one of the best episodes of The Smurfs, next to Willpower Smurfs, Squeaky, Once in a Blue Moon, Smurfquest and Lure of the Orb, and also the saddest next to "A Tear of a Smurf"
- Heartwarming Ending: After Snappy confesses what happened to the forest, everyone forgave him and an owl drops Snappy's medal on the young Smurfling, with Papa Smurf saying that he might want it back, and this time Snappy accepts the honor without reservation as a couple of rabbits snuggle him to give him their thanks.
- This is one of the acceptable episodes of the late 80's due to it's theme of fire safety.
Bad Qualities
- As mentioned in WIFF #3, Jokey, Painter and Dreamy are nowhere to be seen in this episode.
- Also, Baby Smurf and some of the minor smurfs who appeared in previous episodes like Tracker, Miner, Tuffy, Sloppy, Weakling, Pushover and Scaredy also don't appear in this episode.
- The scene of Snappy crying in guilt is very heartbreaking, also you can feel bad for Snappy there.
