Flash Hits

Flash Hits is a trope pioneered by the beloved 2003 series, Teen Titans. Flash Hits are usually used in some TV Shows when someone is about to be hit or punched in order to censor the impact hit and overall violence. The trope is usually better and greatly used when it's the POV of the victim that is being beaten up or punched which further adds realism and makes the audience thinking they are being hurt.

An alternate version of it is when TV shows add long “fade to black” scene transitions for the network to add commercials inbetween episodes on live TV airings. Thankfully, it’s not present in streaming-exclusive media.

Examples in Media

  • Teen Titans (The show that started it all)
  • Ben 10 series (This is one of the most famous examples and it's overused to death)
  • Most of French shows (such as: Taffy, Miraculous Ladybug (especially in the third season onwards), Boyster, etc)
  • Total Drama
  • Adventure Time
  • Dragon Booster (Overused to death)
  • The Powerpuff Girls (2016) (The most infamous example)
