FlatOut is a demolition racing game developed by Finnish developer Bugbear Entertainment and published by Empire Interactive. It was released for PC, PlayStation 2, and Xbox in July 2005 and is the first installment in the FlatOut series. The game is notable for allowing players to eject the driver out of the car's front windshield. It was followed by a sequel, FlatOut 2.

Why It Rocks

  1. Wonderful physics and damage modeling on par with Burnout 3: Takedown.
  2. Minigames are downright hilarious due to the ridiculous rag-doll physics.
  3. Almost every object on the track can be destroyed or broken and smashing into them earns you boost.
  4. Excellent graphics for 2004 standards.
  5. Frantic and fun online multiplayer.
  6. Nice sound effects.
  7. Outstanding soundtrack featuring tracks such as "Anger Management 101" by Deponeye and "No Man's Land" by Full Diesel.
  8. Tracks are of different surfaces like tarmac, dirt, and even ice.
  9. Tracks have a lot of tight turns which make the game harder, and require you to brake often, especially in the higher classes.
  10. Tracks have height differences which make them unpredictable and more intense.
  11. Speeding too much will make you pay making the game (somewhat) realistic.

Bad Qualities

  1. As stated in WIR#2, has poor ragdoll physics but not only that. Since the physics aged a bit due to the usage of Diesel Engine.
  2. Jerky handling. It gets worse once you keep wrecking your car due to the physics mentioned above. If you're very bad at driving in this game, get ready to restart the race, A LOT.
  3. Needed more cars. It has a total of only 15.
