FloopaLoo, Where Are You? (originally Flapacha, où es-tu ?, also called just FloopaLoo) is an Italian-French animated series based on an original idea by Xilam founder and producer, Marc du Pontavice. Produced by Xilam in co-production with France Télévisions and in association with Castelrosso and Rai Fiction, the series takes about 15 minutes per segment. A third season was confirmed, but no release date has been announced yet.

Plot

Two cousins, Matt and Lisa, are staying at summer camp in the woods where a creature named FloopaLoo lives. There, they discover a strange world where fish can play music and memory trees grow.

Why It's FloopaLoo

  1. The series itself is spot on, creative and also imaginative with a unknown world where the FloopaLoo (the creature that gives the name of the series) lives.
  2. Great animation provided by Inspidea from Malaysia and art style made by Aurore Damant.
  3. Likable characters, such as Matt, Lisa, Malik and more.
    • Hippolyte despite punishing the camp's children and almost looking evil, he is actually very sensitive and romantic and he is madly in love with Olga (Beryl in the English dub), as he tries to get her attention.
  4. The idea of having children finding a rare creature at a summer camp in the woods is cool and interesting.
  5. Relaxing and amazing musical composition by Vincent Artaud, in his first production for Xilam.
  6. Creative plots.
  7. Great voice acting.

Bad Qualities

  1. Although Hippolyte (Ignatius in the English dub) was meant to serve as the camp's disciplinarian, he can be sometimes a hypocrite, because he sometimes does the things he prohibits. His behavior could be similar to that of Mr. Herriman from Foster's Home.

Trivia

  • The series was originally going to be called Summer Camp.[1]
  • Originally Matt and Malik would have different character designs, but they would be changed later in the final series. These original designs were posted at Aurore Damant's blog, which nowadays has been closed.[1]
  • This was the first Xilam production with Vincent Artaud as the studio's music composer, replacing Hervé Lavandier who left Xilam, with The Daltons (2010) being the last Xilam production with Hervé's musical composition.
