It may have not reached a new dimension in terror, but at least it gave Jason his iconic hockey mask.

Friday the 13th Part III (also known as Friday the 13th 3D or Friday the 13th Part III: 3D) is a 1982 slasher film. It was originally supposed to be the final installment in the Friday the 13th series. It was directed by Steve Miner and distributed by Paramount Pictures.
Plot
The third installment in the "Friday the 13th" series picks up on the day after the carnage with homicidal maniac Jason Voorhees (Richard Brooker) stealing some clothes and killing a local store owner. Meanwhile, Chris (Dana Kimmell) and her sometimes boyfriend, Rick (Paul Kratka), are hosting a group of teenage friends at Chris' lake house. Despite a run-in with a local biker gang, they enjoy an amiable weekend together -- that is until Jason begins knocking off kids and bikers alike.
Qualities That Should Be Killed by Jason Voorhees
- While some of the kills are brutal, most of them are delivered in a way where it ends up looking funny and overall silly.
- Half of the movie is nothing but people just throwing or shoving things at the screen which comes off very jarring, though this is somewhat excusable as this was originally made in 3D.
- The tagline doesn't have a new dimension in terror.
- Misleading Title: The film takes place on Saturday the 14th, as the movie is set after the previous film.
- The story structure is pretty awful because, after the first scene that shows Jason killing a few people, it's literally 1 hour of extremely boring filler that shows the teen characters doing similar things to the ones in the previous films. You have to wait until the third act for Jason to appear again and start killing the teens. This is something the previous two movies didn't suffer from because they had more balanced story structures.
- Very slow pacing compared to the previous two films.
- Plot Hole: Chris explains that she was attacked by Jason years earlier and, according to the flashback, Jason is shown wearing the same clothing as he does now, despite the fact Jason looked completely different in the previous two films.
- Shockingly awful acting, such as this moment.
- While the soundtrack is good, it makes some scenes unintentionally amusing, especially when some of the soundtracks were recycled from the first film.
- The special effects didn't age well, especially the 3D effects.
- The ending is repeated from the first film, but with the roles reversed.
Good Qualities
- It's the first film in the franchise where Jason dons his iconic hockey mask.
- The design of Jason without the mask is pretty well made.
- Some of the deaths are brutal, especially Andy's.
- The soundtrack is decent.
- The final fight between Chris and Jason is pretty intense, with Jason shrugging off most of Chris' attacks.
- Some interesting characters, such as the protagonist Chris, Shelly, and Chili.
