Frogger (SNES)
Really insulting that this was the last SNES game in North America.
Genre(s): Action
Platform(s): Super Nintendo Entertainment System
Release Date: 1998
Developer(s): Morning Star Multimedia
Publisher(s): Majesco Sale

Frogger is an action game originally release in 1981 and was ported to the SNES in 1998, while the other version received positive reviews, the SNES version was panned by many player and critics.

Why It Will Be Crushing It By The Car

  1. The graphics are very ugly and awful, especially for a 1998 SNES game. Even Doraemon 3 on SNES look better than this and it's was release in 1994, to add insults to injury, Kirby's Dream Land 3 was released in 1997 and it's look 1000 times better than this.
  2. Making a SNES port of the classic Frogger game in 1998 for the SNES was a very bad idea, especially since the SNES already died out in popularity in North America.
  3. There are no music in this port which is unacceptable because the Arcade original version have some music, though at least in this port there are sound effects but that don't say much.
    • Also the Sega Genesis version that was released the same time was more closer to the Arcade version, was actually good and have musics and sound effects.
  4. Speaking of the sound effects, they are really awful.
  5. The levels are all the same just with more truck or enemies in the water which is lazy.
  6. The controls are very poor compared to the Arcade or Sega Genesis version
  7. There's no ending or other game modes, much like Mr. Do on SNES, not to mention that the SNES and Sega Genesis port of Ms. Pac-Man have an ending and is more complete than this game.
  8. Compared to Sonic the Hedgehog (8-bit), Wario's Woods, Pokémon Yellow, Sonic Adventure 2, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, this was a horrid way to end a console's lineup.

Reception

This version received very negative reviews by the players and it was criticized for the subpar graphics and sound effects.

Trivia

    • Despite this, the actual final game for the SNES is Metal Slader Glory: Director's Cut, released by HAL Laboratory only in Japan on November 29, 2000
  • This was the only game to only receive a Majesco "Assembled in Mexico" release, due to the late release.
