"Frosty Friendship" (French: "Amitié Glaciale") is the fourteenth episode from season three of Zig & Sharko and the one hundred and seventieth episode overall. It was written by Rémi Zaarour and storyboarded by Clément Girard.
Plot
In this episode, after the ship crashes into an iceberg, Marina decides to explore it and befriends a penguin living there. However, once the ship is repaired, the creepy little bird refuses to let her or Sharko leave.
Why It Should Be Frozen Forever
- This is a torture episode for not just Sharko and Zig but also even for Marina since they are followed by a penguin, which while cute looking, act quite creepy, making one of the worst episode of season 3 and make it almost unwatchable.
- The episode is a complete insult to people who have or got a toxic friendship with someone.
- The penguin is extremely creepy and unlikable, even for a penguin from this show, as he always force the main characters to eat/drink with him non-stop, and they constantly had to find a way to stop this crap, which did almost failed, but thankfully they get rid of him in the end.
- Speaking about him, the face that he does when he ask the characters to drink with him is slightly disturbing, if not completely crazy, even for a Zig & Sharko episode.
- In fact when he does those faces, he almost look like an absolute physopath, and look like as if he want you to suffer, in which he probably does.
- In fact, his personality is completely inconsitent because other time he's nice (such as saving Marina from Zig) or other time (mostly when they try to leave the place) he is a huge jerk who will do everything so that they don't leave his place and force them to drink with him, which is just overall creepy.
- Speaking about him, the face that he does when he ask the characters to drink with him is slightly disturbing, if not completely crazy, even for a Zig & Sharko episode.
- Speaking about the penguin disturbing face that he make in some parts of the episode, it also became quickly repetitive because he do it a lot, even more than 5 times in just two minutes, which is way too much and could even be considered fillers because of this, like they just wanted to get the 7 minutes running time right.
- The plot is actually interesting but very poorly executed because of what happen and because of the penguin being a huge creep, not only that but it was so poorly executed that because of that, it is one of the worst episode of season 3, and one of the most boring too.
- Zig, while still likable, is slightly out of character since even when the penguin try to follow them, he still try to eat Marina, which is extremely dangerous at situation like that, such as when he was still in the penguin house when both Sharko and Marina are frozen.
- And even then, in the beginning he act like an absolute jerk who make fun of Sharko, and even push him to a very dangerous descent to capture Marina, and the latter one got injured.
- The title is slightly misleading since while they are friend with the penguin in the beginning, it quickly became a terrible friendship because the penguin is toxic for not letting them leave.
- The writting is also inconsistent because not only does the penguin personality is inconsistent but also it cannot decide what kind of episode is, such as a comedic one, or a slightly darker episode or even an episode about escape.
- Mediocre Ending: While the main characters got saved from the penguin, Zig once again try to eat Marina and got punched by Sharko to the penguin house, and because of this, Zig got scared once again.
- Not to mention that even despite that Zig tried to eat Marina, he didn't even deserved that because not only it is way too extreme but also, he did just saved them from the penguin.
- It is overall another one of those episodes where the potential is wasted thank to poor writting.
Redeeming Qualities
- The main characters, Zig (despite being out of character at times), Sharko, Bernie and Marina are still likable as usual.
- There's a few funny moments here and there, especially at the beginning where Sharko can't move on the frozen ground, which is funny slapstick.
- As usual, the animation is very good looking as it had some nice details and the color palette is great as always, also the different environnements are once again very well made.
- The title card is very good as usual, even if it is a bit weak compared to season 2 episodes title cards.
- The beginning was decent, until that the penguin tried to follow the main characters to no end.
Trivia
- Blue Fish was changed their bodies to Red Fish;
- Penguin's eyes is white instead of golden yellow.
