GOG.com (short for Good Old Games) is a digital video game and film distribution platform. It is operated by GOG Sp. z o.o., a wholly-owned subsidiary of CD Projekt based in Warsaw, Poland. GOG.com delivers DRM-free video games through its digital platform for Microsoft Windows, macOS, and Linux. In March 2012, it began selling more recent titles such as Alan Wake, Assassin's Creed, and the Metro Redux series, among many others.

Why It Rocks

  1. The main feature of the website is that virtually all if not all, games sold will have no Digital Rights Management features.
  2. It is focused on publishing older games, as its original name suggests, and these games are often patched up to work correctly on newer systems.
  3. Since 2012, the platform also launched newer games such as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Terraria, and Metro Redux.
  4. The games sold here use a fair price system. If something costs more in a country than elsewhere, they will give the user free Wallet funds.
  5. The Money Back Guarantee covers players for 30 days if they don't like the game or if the game doesn't work for their system.
  6. They also launched GOG Connect which allows GOG members to link their account with their Steam account, allowing them to download DRM-free games on GOG.
  7. They along with Running With Scissors even mocked corrupt game journalism by having the Postal Dude pee on a gravestone with "Game Journalism" on it.

Bad Qualities

  1. The library of games isn't as big as Steam.
  2. Buying games there sometimes becomes torture.
  3. GOG setups are common in pirated games, due to the fact the games are DRM-free.
  4. They can occasionally break their policy. Examples:
    • They somewhat supported the Communist Party of China by banning the release of Devotion before its intended launch due to "messages from gamers".
    • In September 2021, they released Hitman - Game of The Year Edition on the service. Despite it being an awesome game, the game is infused with DRM! The backlash towards this move made GOG remove the game from the store.
