Gold Fish is the eighth episode of the second season of the 2006 anime Funny Pets. It is the 20th episode of the series overall.
Summary
Corona takes with a goldfish at home and keeps it as his pet. Due to an accident Crescent made, Corona slips and kills the goldfish, and what happens next is up to the viewer to describe.
Why It (Intentionally?) Sucks
NOTE: It was most likely that this episode was meant to suck on purpose, just like the whole show in general.
- This episode is considered one of the worst episodes of Funny Pets due to its disturbing concept. The reason about this is that Corona gets traumatized because he accidentally killed his pet goldfish to the point where he starts to hallucinate on seeing only goldfish, same thing goes for Crescent who ironically was the culprit of all this despite he tried to make up the things after his joke went wrong.
- Irritating voice acting as usual.
- As expected from the show, the animation is still ugly and outdated.
- That horrifying scene where Crescent shot himself with a laser gun after seeing Funny's fashion magazine, burning him in the process while Indian music is playing in the background.
- Absurd ending: Corona hugs Crescent thinking that he's a goldfish while he's on fire and both of them ended up on a hallucination about hugging and being captured by a goldfish respectively.
- This episode started the downfall of Funny Pets as its episode plots got more surreal and disturbing until Kids' Station decided to cancel the show after its 24th episode due to how horrible it was.
(Intentional?) Redeeming Qualities
- Funny's design is kind of cute as usual.
- Like the whole show in general, this episode was most likely made to be bad on purpose.
- It at least still does faithfully resemble both aesthetic and convention-wise western cartoons.
