Green Eggs and Ham is a 1960 children's book by Dr. Seuss.

Why We Should Try Green Eggs And Ham Here, There, and Anywhere

  1. Likable characters, like Sam-I-Am and the grumpy man (later Guy-Am-I in the Netflix show).
  2. Great writing with a lot of rhyming words that are very funny and clever.
  3. The idea of a grumpy man refusing to eat new food until the end is quite creative and interesting.
  4. It has a good moral which is that one should try something new even if they don't want to, because they won't know if they like something without trying it.
  5. The grumpy man also manages to be a hilarious narrator.
  6. "Would you like to eat Green Eggs and Ham?"
  7. It received a well-made and faithful adaptation as part of the DePatie-Freleng special, Dr. Seuss on the Loose, along with The Sneetches and The Zax.
  8. The 2019 Netflix television series is a very entertaining and well-received adaptation of the book.
  9. The Living Books Version was also very great.

Bad Qualities

  1. Sam-I-Am can sometimes be a little bit unlikable due to the fact that he keeps on following the man around to make him eat green eggs and ham.
    • Guy-Am-I himself can also be a little unlikable sometimes due to hating green eggs and ham when he hasn't even tried them yet, although that's the whole point.
  2. The grumpy man that Sam pesters didn't have a name yet until the Netflix series.

Trivia

  • The reason this book exists is because Dr. Seuss made a bet with his publisher that he would make a book with only 50 different words.
