Green Eggs and Ham is a 1960 children's book by Dr. Seuss.
Why We Should Try Green Eggs And Ham Here, There, and Anywhere
- Likable characters, like Sam-I-Am and the grumpy man (later Guy-Am-I in the Netflix show).
- Great writing with a lot of rhyming words that are very funny and clever.
- The idea of a grumpy man refusing to eat new food until the end is quite creative and interesting.
- It has a good moral which is that one should try something new even if they don't want to, because they won't know if they like something without trying it.
- The grumpy man also manages to be a hilarious narrator.
- "Would you like to eat Green Eggs and Ham?"
- It received a well-made and faithful adaptation as part of the DePatie-Freleng special, Dr. Seuss on the Loose, along with The Sneetches and The Zax.
- The 2019 Netflix television series is a very entertaining and well-received adaptation of the book.
- The Living Books Version was also very great.
Bad Qualities
- Sam-I-Am can sometimes be a little bit unlikable due to the fact that he keeps on following the man around to make him eat green eggs and ham.
- Guy-Am-I himself can also be a little unlikable sometimes due to hating green eggs and ham when he hasn't even tried them yet, although that's the whole point.
- The grumpy man that Sam pesters didn't have a name yet until the Netflix series.
Trivia
- The reason this book exists is because Dr. Seuss made a bet with his publisher that he would make a book with only 50 different words.
