Groundhog Day is a 1993 American fantasy comedy film directed by Harold Ramis and written by Ramis and Danny Rubin. It stars Bill Murray, Andie MacDowell and Chris Elliott. Murray portrays Phil Connors, a cynical television weatherman covering the annual Groundhog Day event in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, who becomes trapped in a time loop forcing him to relive February 2 repeatedly. The film also stars Stephen Tobolowsky, Brian Doyle-Murray, Marita Geraghty, Angela Paton, Rick Ducommun, Rick Overton, and Robin Duke.

Why It Rocks
- The actors give really great performances, especially from Bill Murray as Phil and Andie MacDowell as Rita.
- The idea of making a man live on the same day in a continuous loop is pretty original.
- There are a bunch of funny and heartwarming moments throughout the film.
- Some very decent story and character development, especially with the main character, Phil.
- It’s one of Bill Murray’s best known and most highly-praised films/performances, right next to Ghostbusters.
- The film has some proper and well-done pacing.
- Harold Ramis has shown to have great skills as a director.
- Amazing writing.
- Each and everyone of the scenes are very well-executed.

Groundhog Day holds a 96% "Certified Fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The site's consensus reads "Smart, sweet, and inventive, Groundhog Day highlights Murray's dramatic gifts while still leaving plenty of room for laughs". The film is regarded as a contemporary classic. It has a score of 72 out of 100 at Metacritic, indicating "Generally favorable reviews."
