Grub Snub is the 27th episode (28th in production order) from the fifth season of The Loud House.
Plot
When Leni decides to hang out at Gus' with her friends, Lincoln and his fight them in order to dominate the place.
Why This Episode Doesn't Even Compete With Mr. Snub
- The main problem with this episode is that Lincoln and his friends act like they actually own Gus' by being so territorial to the place, even though anyone and everyone can hang out over there as Gus' is a public building.
- The moral of having to share a space was already done with season 1's "Space Invader", where it was done better. Didn't he already learn his lesson to share a space in that episode?
- Lincoln and his friends are at their absolute worst in here as they make such a big deal of Leni and her friends hanging out at Gus' Games and Grub and then they try to get Leni and her friends to leave Gus' Games and Grub. That's just selfish of them.
- While not entirely their fault, Leni's group could have found another hangout rather than barge in, or better yet, asked Lincoln and his friends if they could share their space.
- Dim Yum closing down that fast doesn't make that much sense and feels like it was forced just for the sake of a plot.
- It also never explains on how Dim Yum got closed.
- Stella, usually the voice of reason as shown in previous episodes, just blindly goes along with Lincoln and his friends' selfish plan, not even thinking to herself what could go wrong.
- Lincoln and his friends blocking off the arcade games with caution/police tape is unfair to other people who could be in the building who want to play with them. Not to mention it could prevent people from leaving Gus's to go to the bathroom or leave.
- In the final round of their challenge, both Lincoln's and Leni's friend groups start fighting and destroy all the arcade games, even when told to stop, causing everyone else to run away from Gus's, and they even injure the owner of the arcade.
- After both friend groups clean up the arcade, they are somehow allowed back in right away, when their ban should've been longer for injuring the poor owner like that.
- Aside from Leni and Lincoln, Lincoln's friends and Leni's friends get no karma for their actions, thus making them karma houdinis.
- The title, Grub Snub is a reference to GrubHub, which is another attempt from Nickelodeon to be relevant.
Redeeming Qualities
- It is nice to see Leni's school friends Jackie and Mandee again after 3 years since 2018, as they had not appeared since season 3's "Everybody Loves Leni".
- The beginning (where the owner of Gus' treats Lincoln and his friends like a family) was decent.
- This episode marks the physical first appearance of Gus Gamesandgrub, even if the execution wasn't the best.
- Gus Gamesandgrub (the owner of the arcade) and the rest of the people in the arcade (even Chandler) are still all likable characters.
- The ending isn't too bad and is great, since after both groups apologized to each other, they cleaned up and restored Gus's Game and Grubs. Even the part where Lincoln and Leni are sprung to the ceiling, thus causing them to be flung outside the building is hilarious and a well-deserved karma.
- The concept of Lincoln and Leni's friends hanging out is an interesting concept despite being poorly executed.
