Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is a action-adventure game developed and published by Electronic Arts. It's based on the movie and the book of the same name.

Why It gives Gryffindor 50 points

Overall

  1. Great voice acting.
  2. Both versions have great graphics for their own respected platforms with the PS1 and PC version being a big improvement over the previous game since the character's lips now synchronize with the voices.
  3. Great soundtrack.

PC, PS1 version

  1. A lot of new spells.
  2. The gameplay is greatly improved from the first game, as it runs on a newer version of the original Unreal Engine.
  3. Lots of challenging levels.
  4. Like last time it follows the plot of the book and the movie well.
  5. It also adds in a lot of new things that weren't in the movie.
  6. Combat is greatly improved.

Xbox, PS2, GameCube version

  1. The gameplay is a huge stand-out from the other versions as it really makes you feel like you're Harry Potter.
  2. Moments of stealth in the game where it is genuinely terrifying to get spotted.
  3. Unlike the other versions you can assign a spell with a button prompt and it allows you to use it whenever you want.
  4. Great character designs, it feels like an animated Harry Potter movie.
  5. Great combat.
  6. The broomstick racing (despite you need to fly through rings) is actually very fun.
  7. The animations are very great.
  8. The Xbox version is easily the best one with better graphics and the best frame-rate.

Bad Qualities

PC, PS1 version

  1. The game as a whole isn't that much different from the previous game.
  2. Once again the PS1 version has aged poorly.
  3. The animations are stiff and the lip-syncing is bad.

Xbox, PS2, GameCube version

  1. Extremely long loading screens. Although, they are shorter in the GameCube version.
  2. The platforming can be a bit clunky at times.
  3. Parts of the CG intro are misleading such as the trio going across a bridge over a lava river, the trio actually being together (which doesn't happen as much because Harry is alone for the majority of the game), Harry saving Ron from death, and Harry dodging a giant stalactite.
  4. It's hard to play on the PS3 as the graphics won't work correctly.
  5. Not much to do on "Last Day of Term" other than getting the remaining collectibles.
  6. The Stealth Sections do overstay their welcome.
  7. Lockhart just kind of disappears from the game after you finish his classes, he's not even at the house cup ceremony at the end of the game. His true nature as a fraud isn't even revealed in this version.
  8. For some reason the PS2 version was on a CD instead of a DVD.

Game Boy Advance version

  1. Whenever you beat the game, instead of letting you getting the collectibles, it takes you back to the last save point.

Trivia

  • This was the last official game for the Game Boy Color.
