Hector the Horrid! is the fifth episode of the eleventh series of Thomas & Friends

Why One Shouldn't Keep Away from the Episode

  1. In some ways, it's "Apology Impossible" done correctly.
  2. Thomas is endearing because he defends Rosie when Hector frightens her, and he feels remorse after inadvertently causing Hector to derail by bumping into him.
  3. It features a brief appearance from Bill and Ben.
  4. It introduces Hector, who is one of the few trucks on Sodor one can trust, and he's one of the best characters to be introduced in the HIT era.
  5. This episode is among the rare ones in this period that does not employ the three strikes formula.
  6. Michael Brandon and Michael Angelis consistently deliver excellent narration, with the exception of Angelis' line, "Keep Away."
  7. Michael Brandon's delivery of the line "KEEP AWAY!" in the American narration is genuinely terrifying and represents some of his finest work as a narrator.
  8. In a heartwarming conclusion, Thomas assists Hector in overcoming his fear of being filled with coal. After guiding Hector back onto the track, Thomas demonstrates that the process isn't as frightening as Hector had imagined, and proceeds to fill him with coal. Subsequently, Thomas couples Hector to the rear of James' train, offering him well wishes for the journey ahead.
  9. Unlike most HiT model era episodes, this episode has a moral, two in fact: Stand up to bullies and face your fears.

The Only Quality We Should Keep Away From

  1. Michael Angelis' rendition of "KEEP AWAY!" is somewhat uninspiring and fails to convey an intimidating presence for Hector.
