Of all the Breakfast Club parodies out there, this one is definitely the worst and it takes a huge dump on the movie.

Hey You, Don’t Forget about Me in Your Memory is 7th episode of the 3rd season of Teen Titans Go!.

Synopsis

Robin convinces the Titans to return back to school with him so he can finally become the all-American class president-type he's dreamed of being.

Why It’s Forgettable

  1. This episode was meant to be a parody of the 1985 movie, The Breakfast Club. However, this parody is an insult to the all episodes of shows that parodied the movie MUCH BETTER, examples are the Victorious episode, The Breakfast Bunch and the Regular Show episode, The Lunch Club. It not only is insulting but disgraceful to the original movie!
  2. The episode title, aside from overly long, is not fitting and unlike all the unfitting titles, it’s not named after a line spoken in the episode or a minor shot in the episode. But rather a reference to the song “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” by Simple Minds because as stated above, this episode is a parody of the Breakfast Club, the song that is well-known due to being prominently featured in the movie.
    • The episode does parody the song at the end, but the lyrics are AWFUL. Details will be stated below.
    • On top of that: the title sounds very cheesy.
  3. The beginning is dark and unnecessary because Beast Boy tells an obviously fake story to the viewers about how the Titans spent their summer. The story also adds nothing to the plot and feels as if the writers don’t have enough material to fill an entire 11 minutes. The story is dark because Beast Boy states Robin dies to give his story “emotional depth”.
  4. The “summer’s over” joke is not funny because the Titans state the obvious e.g. Labor Day and Halloween. The joke also feels like more padding.
  5. After all the padding, Robin introduces the actual plot, which is the Breakfast Club parody and how it starts is stupid because Robin “picks” the Titans’ stereotypes.
    • Cyborg is a jock.
    • Starfire is a homecoming queen.
    • Raven is a “basket case”, which is really the “goth kid” stereotype.
    • Beast Boy is a nerd, which makes no sense, Beast Boy even said it himself.
    • Robin is the “all-American boy next door”.
  6. Speaking of Robin, he is highly unlikable in this episode because of how he views/behaves in the school, his misdeeds will be listed here:
    • Telling the Titans that going to school as “labels”/stereotypes is what it’s about.
    • Beats up Beast Boy twice for hanging out with Cyborg because “nerds are not allowed to hangout with jocks”.
    • Got the Titans in detention a few times and eventually expelled.
    • Walked in the school in his underwear, which is indecent exposure, this is illegal.
  7. Plot Hole: Why would the principal punish the other Titans if Robin was the one who was misbehaving?
    • How could Beast Boy win valedictorian on the first day of high school?
  8. In the Student Body scene, Titans state that Robin is “naked” but he’s really in his underwear.
  9. Bad Morals: "If you fail to live up to your label, take it out on your friends."
  10. This episode is also most infamous for how poorly the show treats the relationship between Robin and Starfire as he was straight-up abusive to her near the end.
  11. The song that plays at the end of the episode, “Cranekick” is a parody of “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” but the song is annoying, the lyrics are poorly written, and is a disgrace to the original song.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. The Titans (except Robin) are likable.
  2. At least the rest of the Titans understand the point of school.
  3. Robin did get comeuppance by getting detention and expelled.
  4. Good moral: Just everywhere else, be yourself at school.
  5. The letter the Titans write is very nice to hear.
  6. Ignoring the “Cranekick” song, the visuals at the end are well animated.
