Horrid Henry's Time Capsule is the thirty-third episode in series one of the Horrid Henry animated television series.

Plot

When Henry’s mum refuses to let Henry bring his slime to school for a time capsule assignment, he decides to use Peter’s plush bunny instead but he has to get the bunny back from under the earth after his pocket money is jeopardized forever.

Why It Buried Bunnies

1. Henry is unlikable here as he decides to steal his brother’s plush bunny to use as a replacement for his time capsule project simply because Mum would not let Henry bring slime to school. Henry also messes up the school garden while searching for the bunny and does not even bother to clean up the mess.
2. Henry’s mum while somewhat tolerable is badly written in this episode. She refuses to let Henry bring slime to school and she never tells Henry why she thinks it is a bad idea to use slime for a time capsule assignment.
3. While the reason for it is understandable, Peter’s crying can get very annoying even though the reason for it is because Henry stole Peter’s beloved bunny.
4. Henry’s dad handled the situation very poorly in this episode. Instead of punishing Henry right away and bringing him to the school to make him tell Miss Oddbod and Miss Battle-Axe the situation about the bunny, Simon makes Henry get the bunny himself by threatening to take away his pocket money forever.
5. Semi-Bad Ending: Although Henry does succeed in getting the bunny back and giving it back to Peter, Henry loses his pocket money anyway after Miss Battle-Axe personally visits Henry’s house to tell Henry’s mum and dad about the garden vandalism. To add insult to injury, Henry's parents downright refuse to let him explain his side of the story!
6. Plot Hole: Miss Battle Axe finds out that Henry was the garden vandalism culprit by finding his slime at the crime scene. However, she saw Henry place his slime in one of the time capsules when Henry proposed that they make a new one with the ulterior motive of catching the thief that was stealing all of the contents from the time capsules buried. Even worse is that when Henry catches the thief, the slime alongside all of the other time capsule contents are spilled out. How did Miss Battle-Axe know that Henry was the vandal just by looking at the slime?
7. The ending to this episode is forced as it only exists the way it does just to give Henry karma for his actions in the episode despite what he went through to correct his misdeeds.

Redeeming Qualities

1. Henry does get Peter’s bunny back, thus giving Peter the good ending.
2. Also, Henry's unusual selfless act involves him giving the sticker given by Miss Battle Axe back to her so that she can put it into the time capsule.
3. The later half of the episode is interesting as it involves as detective plot where Henry tries to figure out who is stealing all of the contents from the time capsule after he digs them up only to find them all empty.
4. The revelation that Miss Oddbod was the time capsule thief is funny and her reasons for doing it are relatable as she said she does it to cherish memories of every student who attends Ashton Primary School.
