"House Flip" is the thirty-sixth episode of the fourth season of The Loud House, it premiered early in the UK on April 30, 2020, but aired 12 days later in both the USA and New Zealand on May 12, 2020.

Why This Episode Gets Flipped Out

  1. For starters: This is a torture episode for the Loud Siblings and to a lesser but more painful extent, Flip.
  2. This episode's plot is already bad from the start, as you can tell, this episode might as well never end well.
  3. Despite being Similar to "The Limit" from The Amazing World of Gumball, the characters, while they are likable (except Flip) easily have flaws in this episode for different reasons, however The Doctor, Kotaro, Lily, and Rita are the only characters that don’t have flaws in this episode:
    • Flip is the most (if not the only) unlikable character, since while the parts where he gets hurts in after the beginning and in near the end of the episode is cruel, horrible, and sympathetic, he starts being at his worse as he tortures the loud siblings, threatens to get them in trouble if they don’t meet his demands and worse, gets them in trouble near the end, though he makes it up by telling their parents to go easy on them since they took decent care of him,
    • The Loud siblings, while likable, guilty and remorseful, act like total idiots in the beginning by wrecking vanzilla multiple times and injuring flip while fighting over who gets to choose the music in Vanzilla. however, Lily is thankfully the only loud sibling who wasn’t responsible for injuring flip.
    • Lynn Sr, while likable, is total hypocrite in this episode as even though he (along with Rita) does make very good points about how reckless their behavior is with Vanzilla, he wreckes Vanzilla near the end of the episode and hurts Flip.
    • Speaking of Vanzilla, the Loud siblings also completely forget what their parents told them in the first place as if they have followed the advice from what was given to them earlier to completely forgetting what the advice was already given to them later.
    • Every single one of the Loud siblings already know by now that lying to their parents is a completely bad idea.
  4. As mentioned above, the only reason the Loud siblings crashed to Flip is because they argue over what radio station they want to listen to. Does a radio- station even matter that much to them? Some of them might have earbuds.
  5. This episode expects the viewer to root against Flip, but while it does work, you feel somewhat sorry for him when he gets injured in the beginning and the end of the episode as a result of the loud kids and Lynn Sr.’s Vanzilla accidents.
  6. Having Flip's injured body to be transported on top of Vanzilla while bringing them home is a dumb move that shows that this episode does not care about logic. If only Flip would have just stayed in the hospital until he's recovered, we would have skipped the entire episode's plot.
  7. Most of the humor is just awful here as what was said earlier, it relies on making characters act hypocritical or stupid because of plot convenience.
  8. Mediocre ending: Flip got injured again by the very same roof, and ended up in the hospital.
    • The ending involves Rita and Lynn Sr. having a three-way with Flip, after the latter injured Flip, by accident, but worse, Lynn Sr. (unlike the loud siblings) doesn’t regret injuring Flip, and the way the ending is set up could be considered that, especially with Lynn Sr. saying, "On the bright side maybe we'll get free Flipees at the end of the week." (he laughs nervously)

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Everyone in this episode (except Flip) are likable characters, but Lily, The Doctor, Kotaro, and Rita are more likable since they didn't do anything malicious.
    • As mentioned above, Lily and Rita are the most likable louds since they both aren’t responsible for injuring Flip
  2. The joke where Flip is the showrunner of the main series is the only remotely funny joke from this episode.
  3. Despite hypocrisy, at least Lynn Sr. does have a point about the number of times on how wrecking Vanzilla can cause consequences.
  4. The title card music, Starlet Express, is nice.
    • The Loud kids do learn a lesson that they shouldn’t be reckless while driving
    • Flip defended the kids by telling Rita and Lynn Sr. that they took care of him, and the parents decided to lift the grounding for "No driving for the rest of the month.".

Trivia

  • This is one of the few episodes where Flip gets his ownstarring role.
  • This episode was confirmed by Jessica DiCicco on Instagram.
  • A part of the hospital scene was censored in the UK airing, which was unknown until the episode aired elsewhere. The following text in bold was cut due to its dark humor:
    • Lynn: "But how can we do that without Mom and Dad finding out what we did?"
Luan: "Yeah, we'll lose Vanzilla privileges forever!"
Lucy: "We can hide him in the morgue. A few beds just opened up."
Luan and Lisa: [uncomfortable about that idea.] "Ugh."
Lincoln: "Or we could just hide him in our attic."
