Hudson Soft Co., Ltd. was a Japanese video game company that released numerous games for video game consoles, home computers and mobile phones, mainly from the 1980s to the 2000s and was well-known for its Bomberman video games. It was headquartered in the Midtown Tower in Tokyo, with an additional office in the Hudson Building in Sapporo. In 2012, it was absorbed into Konami, which acquired Hudson Soft's intellectual property.

Why They Rocked
- They were responsible for creating some of the most iconic franchise to exist, such as the Bomberman and Adventure Island series and especially the Mario Party games, in which most of those franchise still continue to this day.
- They made plenty of good games, such as the Bomberman series, the Adventure Island games on the NES and SNES, the Bonk's games, their Doraemon games (especially the PC-Engine ones) and DoReMi Fantasy on the SNES, in which some of their games are underrated to this day.
- Hudson also made some great licensed games as well, such as Felix the Cat and Doraemon.
- Most of their games had good graphics and characters designs, especially on the Bomberman franchise.
- A lot of their games had great soundtracks, this include most of their NES games and even the SNES games had great musics, that are so catchy to listen that some of them are memorable, this is especially true with Adventure Island, Bomberman and Robowarrior.
- Their logo is awesome and iconic.
- They created a lot of unique games in their franchise, such as Adventure Island IV and Super Adventure Island 2, Bomberman Hero and even the Bonk games on the Game Boy.
- They supported a lot of consoles, especially the Nintendo ones since they released games on so many consoles, even the Sega Genesis did get some games, although on Sega, they didn't done as much as they did with Nintendo.
- Their games had incredibly fun and addictive gameplay, especially the Bomberman, Adventure Island and Bonk series.
- They treated their franchise with respect and was one of the few companies to never actually milk their franchise, meaning that their games quality we're consistent, and the only time they done bad games was mostly because of some of their games being rushed.
- They created the PC Engine to compete with both the NES and Sega Genesis, and it was extremely successful in Japan due to the amazing catalogue of quality titles and it's iconic design that made it the biggest console in the country at the time.
- Aside from video games, Hudson also made some accessories to already existing game consoles and occasionally made a few toys here and there, such as the Super Multitap for the SNES for multiplayer in games like Super Bomberman.
- In fact, their original headquarters had a train track on top of the building that was colored white and was used for the employees to have some fun while working there and was also used in a few ads during the 90s as well, which was a fun quirk with the company and made them very unique from the competition.
- After Bomberman: Act Zero was critically panned, Hudson Soft apologised to fans about the game itself and decided to revert back to the original Bomberman formula with Bomberman Live, which was a great game. Also worth noting that they mocked Act Zero in an video showcase and their reputation in video games remained just as consistent as before.
Bad Qualities
- Despite that most of their games are good, they still made a handful of bad games, which include:
- Milon's Secret Castle (NES)
- Super Mario Bros. Special (The most infamous)
- Unfortunately, due to their closure, some of their franchise are abandonned due to Konami doing nothing with most of their franchises, the most noticeable being the Bonk and Adventure Island franchise which haven't had a new title in years and have been ignored in favor of pachinko machines and mobile games.
- The Mario Party subseries would go downhill after their closure since most of the games would never play the same, although Mario Party 9 was still a fairly good game despite not playing the same as before.
Trivia
- Hudson Soft was the very first third-party developer and publisher for the Nintendo Famicom (NES). They produced the game programming system Family Basic, which was published by Nintendo in June 1984, and soon after published the first Famicom games not produced by Nintendo, Nuts & Milk and Lode Runner, in July 1984.
- Interestingly, Hudson also producer the very last licensed release for the Famicom as well, Takahashi Meijin no Bōkenjima IV (Adventure Island IV).
