Hydrite "Family Bonding" Commercial
This basically Unilab's absolute worst timing to ever air this commercial... just to exist badly. Could they do something to fix this monstrosity to make it look better instead?
Genre: Commercial
Running Time: 30 seconds (full)
15 seconds (short)
Country: Philippines
Release Date: September-October 2007

The Hydrite "Family Bonding" commercial is a commercial appearing in 2007 in the Philippines. It also includes a short 15-second version that is the same as the full 30-second version. While this commercial is not controversial through any means, it is wasted for a lot of reasons. Sadly, this commercial was not seen after October 2007. However, both commercials have been uploaded on YouTube on 2021.

Why It Should Get Dehydrated (And Gets A Diarrhea)

  1. This is infamous for its wasted potential of an otherwise good commercial and for being pointlessly added, which explains all the details below.
  2. At first, the viewers might believe that this is a good one (the family rides bicycles and have fun in the park), which shows for 5 seconds, but afterwards, the scene transitions to the family getting a diarrhea from spoiled foods, with the father rushing into the bathroom to defecate while the older daughter have to wait there until it is finished and their younger son stays with the mother to hug him. The latter scene is considered as one of the infamous scenes in a commercial that is not controversial, which is straight-up terrible and disturbing.
  3. The commercials defeats the purpose of Hydrite, with the father saying "Sira na ng pagkain natin!" ("Our food is spoiled!" in English), implying that they got diarrhea from spoiled foods, even though dehydration could affect diarrheas. This would have placed better for a Diatabs or an Immodium commercial instead of this. Also, none of this would have happened if the father did not say anything about spoiled foods!
    • Not helping the fact that Diatabs and Immodium have much better (and hilarious) commercials and most of the edits are great, unlike this atrocity.
  4. The editing is atrocious, especially the scene where the family gets diarrhea with the father rushing to the toilet to defecate and the Hydrite with the text "W.H.O Recommended Formula" despite Hydrite being seen before the mother picks it up.
    • There is a missed opportunity to include a scene where the father is seen defecating in the toilet before flushing it, opening the bathroom door, and drinking a glass of Hydrite, alongside the daughter and the son (which would make the edit more expensive and better), instead of a lazy shot of a Hydrite packet with the "W.H.O" (World Health Organization) text seen above.
  5. The bathroom scene is seen once, we kid you not! When the father is going there to defecate, he closes and locks it, thus making this room completely wasted.
  6. The sounds of the family, except the mother, grunting while having diarrhea is annoying.
  7. The am drink is seen alongside the water bottle and energy drink bottle it is used in this commercial and never seen in others, which makes it pointless.
  8. Plot Holes:
    • Since when has the family had a stomach ache from eating spoiled foods?
    • If the older daughter had a stomach ache, she could have gone to the other bathroom to defecate.
    • The father suddenly drinks a glass of Hydrite even though he is having diarrhea, possibly due to the lazy editing in WISGDAGAD#4.
  9. The commercial was short-lived, as it aired from September to October 2007. However, on November 2007, it did not come back at all.
  10. As usual with the other commercials, it frequently used the 15-second short commercials instead of the 30-second full commercials.
  11. Overall, this commercial was a disgrace to Unilab, and the new Hydrite commercials were never aired in the 2010s onwards, making Hydrite unpopular at that time.
    • Sure, there are some brands that have one commercial, but it did air more than this one.
    • Speaking of which, none of this would have happened if the commercial had been started airing longer in 2008, so that most of the edits would have been fixed to make things better.

Hydrated Qualities

  1. The first 5 seconds and the scene where the family feels better after drinking Hydrite are the only good scenes.
    • Speaking of which, the first 5 seconds did include a much better editing than the last 24 seconds of this commercial, discounting the Unilab logo.
  2. Decent music.
  3. The announcer did a good job in this commercial.
  4. Fortunately, this commercial did not come back starting in November 2007.
