Inanimate Insanity is the second/third object show ever created on YouTube. It is created by AnimationEpic. The first season ran from April 1, 2011, to December 7, 2012, with 18 episodes. The second season started on April 2, 2013, and currently has 16 episodes and a few more in the making. It then started a third season, which ran from April 3rd 2021, to March 3rd, 2024, with 19 episodes released so far. Many object show fans say it's the best object show along with Battle for Dream Island.
Why It's Inanimate Insanity (In A Good Way)
- The writing in the show is amazing and well done, mostly in the second season.
- Unlike other object shows, it focuses more on the story and characters rather than the challenges and eliminations.
- Many great and likable characters in the show, such as Knife, MePhone4, Bow, Paintbrush (Season 1 & 3), etc.
- The challenges are very fun and interesting to watch, especially in the 2nd season.
- It has some well-made musical numbers (e.g. Afterlife in the Limelight, Just Like Me, and Taco's Tirade).
- Very well done and talented voice acting from many of the cast members such as Taylor Grodin, Ben Cross, Samuel Thornbury, Hailey Chapman, Alexa Chapman, Justin Chapman, Rheagan Rizio, Kacie Chapman, Mark Katz, Michael Bruzzone, and Adam Katz himself.
- The original composed music that is used in many of the later episodes is very beautiful and nice to listen to and fits well with the series it's being used for.
- We finally get to see Bow alive again in Season 3, but it is revealed that she was a robot at the end of the episode 7.
- The assets for Season 3 have neat designs.
- A plethora of incredible and memorable episodes such as:
- The Crappy Cliff
- War De Guacamole
- 4Seeing the Future
- Crappy Anniversary
- Inanimate Smackdown
- The Great Escape
- The Tile Divide
- The Penultimate Poll
- Journey Through Memory Lane (both parts 1 and 2)
- Breaking the Ice
- Marsh on Mars
- Tri Your Best
- Cooking for the Grater Good
- A Kick in the Right Direction
- Theft and Battery
- Kick the Bucket
- Alternate Reality Show
- Mine Your Own Business (despite the part where MePhone4 fires Toilet)
- Hatching the Plan
- Stranded in Paradise
- Try Not To Laugh Challenge
- Best Served Cold
- Title TBD
- Pesty Besties
- Home Is Where the Heart Is
- Friend or Froze
- Spring on the Breakfast
- Blue Buried
- The Great Bluish Bake Off
- The Show Must Go On
- A Jury of Your Fears
- You Can't Do This Forever
- Truth or Flare
- The Reality of the Situation
- Through No Choice of Your Own
- Objects in Mirror
Idiotic Qualities
- The first season of the show is very mediocre at the best, with the animation also coming off mostly awful by 3/4 of the entire season.
- The earlier episodes would occasionally have a lot of attempts at creating comedy that would mostly come off either annoying or just plain bad.
- It had a massive cliffhanger for about few years, similar to BFDIA, though this was mostly fixed with the later episodes of the series.
- There are a few unlikable characters.
- Paintbrush got flanderized in Season 2. They take things far too seriously and physically abuse anyone who slacks off, especially Fan. Thankfully, they have learned their consequences by the time before they were eliminated in Alternate Reality Show.
- Nickel arguably suffered flanderization even worse than Paintbrush. He likes to promote sarcasm and always tries his best to break up Suitcase and Balloon. He also bullies Balloon for the most part.
- Trophy is a bland and forgettable character; he is just a rip-off of Knife.
- Steve Cobs used to be Hate Sink because he has a history of abusing his MePhones, particularly MePhone4. He also often sends his MePhones to kill MePhone4. In flashbacks, he manipulates MePhone4 to do tasks for himself.
- The “Keep On Cleaning” musical number can be considered pretty mediocre for some fans.
- One of the exit interviews sponsored Raid: Shadow Legends.
Trivia
- Contrary to popular belief, Inanimate Insanity wasn't the 2nd object show to be made, Total Fruit Island was the 2nd. However, Total Fruit Island is unfortunately lost, as all episodes were deleted from YouTube and no episodes have resurfaced.
