Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is a 2024 adventure-action game developed by MachineGames and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is based on the Indiana Jones franchise and will feature an original narrative that draws from the film series.

Plot

Set between the events of Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade, Indy discovers a conspiracy seeking to harness a power from ancient sites that form a perfect circle around the world map.

Why It Belongs In A Museum

  1. The idea of making an Indiana Jones first person action adventure game was superb thanks to the talent of MachineGames.
  2. Troy Baker does a fantastic job as Indy, while also borrowing Harrison Ford's likeness.
  3. Incredible graphics with a strong attention to detail, this goes from a recreation of the opening scene of Raiders of the Lost Ark to Vatican City.
  4. Some cutscenes are actually mostly faithful to the movies.
  5. Marvelous combat, every blow you deal as Indy feels tight and responsive.
  6. You can grab blunt objects from enemies' hands to bash their heads in. You could also use anything from flyswatters, guitars, hammers, pickaxes, clubs, plungers, and hairbrushes as a weapon.
    • You can also use your whip to disarm enemies and distract dogs.
  7. The whip can also be used to climb ledges, swing across gaps, or pull objects just like the movies.
  8. You can use firearms not only for shooting, but also as a blunt weapon in case you run out of ammo.
  9. When not in combat, you can solve challenging puzzles that require you to think.
  10. You can find upgrade books out in the open and each of them boost Indy's stats if you have enough Adventure Points.
  11. This game officially ended Tony Todd's video game voice acting career on a great note.

Qualities That Should Just Be Shot

  1. Before you get the upgrade to knock enemies out silently, you need to find a melee weapon. Otherwise, you won't be able to knock them out and have to rely on your fists.
  2. Because this is an Indiana Jones game, there aren't that many firearms to get, you either get a pistol, rifle, submachine gun, an rarely a shotgun. Compare this to the Wolfenstein games from the same developer where there are weapon types as crazy as a laser cannon. Likewise, the shooting doesn't feel solid as Wolfenstein as the violence was tone done to fit with the Indy franchise.
  3. In order to play the PC version, your computer must to meet really high spec requirements in terms of the OS, the processor, memory, graphics, and storage.
    • For example, the least powerful graphic card that will be to order run the game is the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Super with 8GB of RAM, or AMD Radeon RX 6600. Players will also need an Intel Core i7 10th gen or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 or better, combined with 16GB of RAM and IGPU will not work.
    • Even on the higher spec, there's some technical hiccups here and there.

Reception

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle received "generally favorable" reviews from critics, according to the review aggregator website Metacritic, and 91% of critics recommended the game on OpenCritic.
