Inspector Gadget is a media franchise that began in 1983 with the DiC Entertainment animated television series, Inspector Gadget. Since the original series, there have been many spin-offs based on the show, including additional animated series, video games, and films.

The franchise follows the adventures of a powerful, but incredibly dim-witted, police inspector as he investigates the criminal schemes of Dr. Claw and his organization, MAD, as they fruitlessly attempt to stop him. However, neither side is aware that it's actually Gadget's niece, Penny, and his long-suffering dog, Brain, who are responsible for thwarting MAD's diabolical plans.

Why It Go Go Gadget Rocks

  1. The theme song is quite catchy and memorable for the most part.
  2. Absolutely stunning and amazing animation, the animation in fact feels extremely expressive and also looks very western yet animated by Japanese company Toni Animation.
  3. All the characters are very likeable, such as the titular Gadget, his pet dog Brain, his niece Penny, and the show's badass main villain, Dr. Claw
    • Speaking of Gadget: A lot of the gadgets he keeps are either interesting, comedic and sometimes useful.
  4. Pretty good voice acting:
    • Dom Adams does a hilarious job playing the title character.
    • Frank Welker does a terrifying and captivating job voicing Dr. Claw.
  5. Exciting episodes with really fun plots, like "A Bad Altitude", "Greenfinger" and "Focus on Gadget".
  6. It has a pretty good amount of slapstick and humor in every episode.\
  7. The show does teach a lot of good lessons to kids.
  8. Overall, this show started the career for DIC Entertainment.

Bad Qualities

  1. The character of Corporal Capeman, who appeared in the second season, is very obnoxious.
  2. Sometimes, Gadget's stupidity can get annoying.

Trivia

  • The reason why Inspector Gadget's mustache was removed throughout the rest of the series (except for the pilot, where it was last seen and only seen) was because the creators saw and agreed it made Gadget look similar to Inspector Clouseau from the Pink Panther, so they feared it would lead to them getting sued by MGM for that matter, so they decided to remove the mustache. (It can also be implied that Gadget shaved it off himself.)
  • Inspector Gadget wasn't just popular in the United States of America as he was also popular in europe, mostly france which is why 2 of the spin-offs were made in france.
