It's Fred! is an animated series of shorts on the Fred YouTube channel and Nickelodeon and Nicktoons. released between Fred 2: Night of the Living Fred and Fred 3: Camp Fred. It was created by former Rugrats and The Wild Thornberrys showrunners Kate Boutilier and Eryk Casemiro. There are nine episodes in total, eleven if the two "Fred Gets Animated" skits are included. The firt episode aired on December 9, 2011. Although it appeared to be well-received, the series stopped after the release of its final episode, which was on March 22, 2012.

The series follows the adventures of Fred, portrayed as a young kid much like the original web series. However, it goes beyond everyday events and into more outlandish schemes and situations Fred gets into, along with a larger scope of Fred's environment and the people around him.

From the film trilogy, Lucas Cruikshank and Jake Weary reprise their roles as Fred and Kevin respectively.

Why This Series Also Makes Kevin Lose His Marbles

  1. While the animation is alright, it doesn't really make the series any better by comparison.
  2. Like Fred: The Movie, Fred comes across as a creepy stalker towards Judy, as he went in her room in Fred Stalks Judy and even went as far to steal her things and even stolen her nail polish.
  3. Kevin, while more tolerable than his movie counterpart, is a jerk towards Fred, but at least Kevin isn't creepy towards his girlfriend and is at least trying to keep her safe from Fred.
  4. The voice acting, especially Fred's is pretty annoying as it can and will get on your nerves quickly. But while Fred is supposed to be 16, he still has the high pitched voice, as that is worse than how he sounded before.
  5. Fred is still a Karma Houdini, although worse, as he never got punished for stalking Judy, in which you can face up to 3 years in prison or longer. As that said crime is illegal, creepy and highly immoral to do!
  6. Adding salt to the wound: In the first film, one particular pointless scene, which is Fred's fantasy about Judy drowning in the pool and Kevin as the lifeguard saving her much to Fred's horror, literally has no reason to exist, since not only does it have any purpose to the plot, yet it's nothing but an excuse for the filmmakers to take advantage of Pixie Lott's sex appeal by putting her in a bikini as one of the attempts to get people to watch the film.
  7. There are a lot of plot holes and inconsistencies, and some kinds of filler.
  8. The jokes land very poorly and don't even make any sense. While this is a webseries after all, the jokes are bland, unoriginal and confusing.

The Only Redeeming Qualities

  1. At least Kevin is the only likeable character in the series, but that doesn't make it any better.
  2. The animation is alright at best.

Reception

  • Despite the positive reception, it got a 5/10 on IMBd.
