Jetix was a television programming brand running owned by The Walt Disney Company. The block was aired on ABC Family (2004-2006) and Toon Disney (2004-2009) in the United States, and the channels were aired on some other countries (2004-2010).

Why It Rocked

  1. It was the first time Disney ever focused mainly on action/adventure programs, and it worked!
  2. Every single original show they aired was of at least decent quality.
  3. While Jetix is action-oriented, it aired only three zany comedy shows: Pucca, Yin Yang Yo! and Warner Bros.'s Pinky and the Brain.
  4. Former shows that aired on Fox Kids, such as Power Rangers, Digimon Adventure, The Tick and even some good cartoons based on Marvel Comics (before it was bought by Disney in 2009) also aired.
  5. In countries where Jetix Europe held rights, Jetix was its own dedicated TV channel, replacing Fox Kids in these territories, even airing some programs the US Jetix block never aired.
    • Jetix Europe handled rights to shows like Sonic X, Tutenstein, Shaman King, Captain Flamingo (although this did air on the US Jetix as well), and Urban Vermin.
    • The British network aired shows like Naruto, Jackie Chan Adventures, Black Hole High and even Robot Wars!
    • Some Jetix networks, especially the Latin American one, aired The Fairly OddParents (Season 1-first half of Season 5, due to Nelvana handling non-US rights).
  6. They had their own short-lived division, Jetix Animation Concepts, which was a joint-venture between Walt Disney Television Animation and Jetix Europe N.V., produced only three original series: Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go! from 2004, Get Ed from 2005 and Yin Yang Yo! from 2006, all three of them were good.
    • Jetix Europe's own original programs, such as W.I.T.C.H., A.T.O.M. - Alpha Teens On Machines, Pucca, Ōban Star-Racers, Monster Buster Club, and Combo Niños, are also of good quality.
  7. The intro itself and idents were awesome! See it for yourself.
  8. Brian Donovan did a good job as a promo/commercial announcer in the US version.
  9. As with Toon Disney, Jetix in the US aired a variety of acquired programs as well, even including three shows (Batman: The Animated Series, Superman: The Animated Series and Pinky and the Brain) that are produced and owned by Disney's rival, Warner Bros.!
    • They also aired some of Disney shows, in the that Jetix owns, such as Gargoyles, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, The Legend of Tarzan and American Dragon: Jake Long for the block and other channels in countries.
  10. The commercial, promos and the bumpers are pretty fun to watched and the website for games and video was also pretty good as well.
    • Speaking of website, Disney also launched Jetix Cards Live, the world's trading card game that is played concurrently on TV and online in the US and includes three shows: Power Rangers Dino Thunder, Digimon and Beyblade.
  11. They have some programs to watched either in the US or other countries, such as Jetix Kids Cup, Kids Awards and Monster Truck.

Bad Qualities

  1. It was merged with Toon Disney to become Disney XD on February 13, 2009, despite this, Disney XD turned out to be a great channel.
  2. ABC Family dropped off Jetix in 2006 for unknown reasons and the channel was switched into non-animated format.
  3. While the block in the USA was decent, the block chose to expand themselves and took up 85% of Toon Disney's programming time and kinda get rid of old Disney cartoons.
    • It could've worked as a block on Disney Channel during the mid-to-late 2000s, but it took over Toon Disney's line-up, because that channel alone was slumping in the ratings for a long time due to airing nothing but classic reruns.
  4. LazyTown, an educational show, once aired on that channel in the Netherlands, which isn't a suitable show for an action block, like how Toonami aired Hamtaro in the US.
  5. The channel didn't have too many original shows and most of the shows it aired were re-airings of other shows, regardless they had already ended or not.
  6. In Latin America, a common complaint was that The Fairly OddParents, Power Rangers and Pucca was aired a lot exaggeratedly to the point the channel aired three episodes in a row some days and many marathons playing all day focused on the show.
  7. Actually, quite a lot of their shows didn't last that long and, in some cases, ended before they were supposed to.

Trivia

  • It was formerly known as ABC Family Action Block from March 2, 2002 to February 13, 2004.
  • The Incredible Hulk was the last program that aired on Toon Disney as part of Jetix on February 12, 2009.
  • The last channel for Jetix was in Russia which was ended on August 10, 2010.
  • Since 2020, one of the series, Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go!, has been rebranded from that of the now-defunct Jetix brand and instead over to Disney for the streaming service Disney+. This can be seen on the series' logo which now displays the Disney trademark above it in blue. Due to the Jetix brand going defunct, it might also be possible that eventually other Jetix original programs will be transferred over to the main Disney brand.
