John Dillermand, also known as John Penisman, John Willieman, or John Dongman, is a Danish stop-motion animated "children's" television program about a man and his extremely long penis. It debuted on DR Ramasjang on January 3, 2021.

Forudsætning (Premise)

John Dillermand is a middle-aged man who wears a red-and-white striped bathing costume. He has a penis that can extend to a length of dozens of meters. John uses his prehensile penis which stretches within his clothes as a tool, such as to tame lions or fly about like a helicopter; it also often acts independently of John, getting him into trouble.

Udvikling og udsendelse (Development and Broadcast)

The series is aimed at four- to eight-year-olds and was developed by the Danish public broadcaster DR, in association with the sex education association Sex & Samfund. It premiered on 3 January 2021 on DR's children's channel DR Ramasjang. The first season, consisting of 13 five-minute episodes, was made available on the internet on 2 January 2021.

Hvorfor vi ikke skal se denne "Diller" af en show (Why We Shouldn't Watch This "Diller" of a Show)

  1. To get the elephant out of the room first, the concept of a protagonist who has stretchable genital organs is very off-putting and ridiculous, which is also furthered by the fact when the main protagonist, John Dillermand doesn't have full control of them.
    • For that reason, the series is extremely inappropriate to be aimed at children when it should be directed at adults instead.
  2. Some moments in the show can be very graphic, outside of the mere concept itself.
    • In one episode, viewers can see someone cut the tip of John's penis off with a shear.
    • John lights his penis on fire when he tries to grill sausages.
    • He has also tried to put a sausage on his penis to attract dogs while walking them, though one of the dogs bites his penis.
  3. The stop-motion animation isn't all that groundbreaking or pleasing to the eyes. Instead, it's very choppy and looks lazily put together.
  4. Despite all these issues, the channel's president strictly refused to listen to criticism (See his response and a poor excuse for clarification below).
  5. Even worse, the series is still ongoing as of 2024, which is further evidence of just how blind the creators are to criticism.
  6. Overall, this series gave the Danish TV media a bad name, and it shows!

Modtagelse (Reception)

Many people have accused the show of promoting pedophilia or making light of the #MeToo movement against sexual violence against women, as said before. However, Morten Skov Hansen, the head of DR Ramasjang, responds to the criticism, saying, "We want to stay out of that #MeToo. The series is made for our target audience, consisting of children aged 4–8, and it must be at their level. The series is not about sexualizing the body." [1]

Despite all of this criticism, children still love this show. Snowmen, drawings, dolls, and songs about John Dillermand were created by some of them as well.
