JumpStart is a franchise of educational games developed by JumpStart Games (formerly Knowledge Adventure) for pre-school and elementary school children.
Why It Used to Rock
- Many great activities and games that help children learn different things.
- Memorable characters, such as Frankie the Dog, Casey Cat, Hopsalot, Pierre the Polar Bear, and Eleanor the Elephant.
- Many of the JumpStart Adventures games have great and well written storylines, such as JumpStart Adventures 5th Grade: Jo Hammet: Kid Detective, and JumpStart Adventures 6th Grade: Mission Earthquest.
- Fun songs such as "Who Left the Juice in the Caboose?" and the Train Adventures songs in the 1999 edition of JumpStart Preschool.
- Great villains such as the self-aware computer ART, a spoof of HAL from 2001: A Space Odyssey, and Polly Sparks, a mischievous girl who travels in time to change history so her test answers will be correct.
- The SpyMasters sub-series, which brings every character from JumpStart Adventures together and with great story and levels.
- Later games such as the 3D Virtual World sub-series let children create their own avatars and explore different worlds, and play educational levels and games.
- The franchise is most-known for World of JumpStart, a massive multiplayer online game with many different zones to explore.
Bad Qualities
- There are some terrible games such as JumpStart Adventure Challenge, which is sports-themed and has no sort of education.
- In one part of the opening song of JumpStart ABC's, Kisha twerks at the camera, which may be gross for children.
- JumpStart Adventures 4th Grade: Haunted Island, can be scary for some and probably was a factor in its discontinuation.
