Just Jamie is a Canadian children's animated series based on original drawings by Helen Dardik. It first premiered on YTV in 2003.
Plot
Just Jamie is an animated world of sleepovers, phone tag, and girl talk. Twelve-year-old Jamie's number-one priority is hanging out with her two life-long friends. It's her mixed-up place in the world that has Jamie always wondering, always searching. With her audience as her confidante, Jamie expresses her innermost "stuff," making her an expert guide to the muddled-up reality of being 12.
Qualities That "Just" Suck
- First of all, it has the laziest, cheapest, and probably some of the worst flash animation out of everything in the 2000s. Even The Eggs, which similarly has cheap animation, looks better than this.
- Ugly character designs and art style that looked like mashed-up versions of 6teen, which premiered a year later.
- Just like The Eggs, it has constant animation errors which happens frequently in EVERY episode. Same thing as said show, sometimes when any character talks, their mouth doesn't move at all, or doesn't match up with the dialogue.
- It's unfaithful to the source material from the original drawings by Helen Dardik.
- Most of the characters are pretty bland and unlikable, like Jamie's mother.
- There are some gross-out, unfunny, and mean-spirited moments.
Good Qualities
- Catchy theme song.
- Some characters can be likable at the times, like Jamie herself sometimes.
- Decent voice acting.
Reception
It has a 5.4/10 rating on IMDb.
