Kicking a Ball and Pretending to Be Hurt is the 41st episode of the 2nd season of Teen Titans Go!.
Synopsis
Robin teaches the Titans about the glorious game of soccer. They quickly become obsessed and accidentally uncover the secret reason why the sport is so popular - Soccer Trolls.
Why It Sucks
- This episode has 3 GLARING PROBLEMS: The fact that it makes fun of soccer, soccer is treated like a drug, and it’s terrible moral. Details will be explained below.
- Bad/Overly Long Title: While the title has to do with the episode’s plot. The title is way too long.
- Robin getting angry and correcting the Titans when they call soccer “soccer” is racist because when he says “football” he says it in an Italian accent, there’s no need for this.
- The Titans throw a temper tantrum when they learned what soccer really is, it’s very uncalled for. Why the tantrum? They hate soccer because it’s a boring sport. Soccer is not boring.
- When Robin teaches the Titans how to play soccer, it goes sour quick because Robin teaches the Titans poor sportsmanship, that’s very unethical.
- Speaking of, animal abuse is tacked on because the Titans gruesomely punch Silkie, who is the goalie. Luckily, he didn’t get badly injured.
- The Titans become so obsessed with soccer, they incorporate it in their daily lives, leading them to make messes, break objects, and chastise each other for the pettiest reasons, such as cooking with their hands like a normal person. It’s too ridiculous.
- The titans then learn the source of their obsession, soccer balls are actually eggs containing soccer trolls, fat gray trolls that release pheromones to cause people to love soccer to a debilitating degree.
- Bad Ending: The Titans play soccer against the Soccer Troll King, they lose, beat up the king, he decides the win due to their poor sportsmanship. Then a bowling ball appears out of nowhere and a turkey hatches out of it. Cyborg shoots it but thankfully, not much is shown.
- Bad Moral: Poor sportsmanship will win a game.
Redeeming Qualities
- Aside from getting punched, Silkie as a goalie was very entertaining.
- The Titans talking about their love of football is funny.
