Krapopolis is an animated adult sitcom that airs on Fox.
Summary
Set in mythical Ancient Greece, the series centers on a flawed family of humans, gods and monsters that tries to run one of the world's first cities without killing each other. Tyrannis, the mortal son of a goddess, is the benevolent king of Krapopolis and is trying to survive in a city that lives up to its name. Deliria is Tyrannis' mother, goddess of self-destruction and questionable choices. Within her extended Olympian family -- forged in patricide and infidelity -- she's known as the trashy one. Shlub, Tyrannis' father, is oversexed and underemployed and claims to be an artist and has literally never paid for anything, in any sense of the word, for his entire life. Stupendous is Tyrannis' half-sister, daughter of Deliria and a cyclops. Hippocampus is Tyrannis' half-brother, the offspring of Shlub and a mermaid, and, obviously, a hot mess, biologically speaking.
Good Qualities
- Just like the video game, Kid Icarus and the movie, Hercules, show greatly utilizes it’s Greek mythological setting and cleverly illustrates what life in Ancient Greece was like and the mythos behind it.
- Very likable characters:
- Though the protagonist, Tyrannis is 30-years-old, he acts like an awkward, insecure teenager and his struggles are relatable.also does an amazing job portraying him.
- Stupendous is rough and tough but she has a heart of gold and her bond with her brother, Hippocampus is very sweet. Stupendous is also pansexual, having a crush on a nonbinary person in Hades and it’s done in a way where it’s not forceful and pandering.
- Hippocampus is a very clever scientist and it’s enjoyable watching him create inventions ahead of its time.
- Shlub is very hilarious.
- The random narration some episodes have is very clever and entertaining to listen to.
- Season 2 dives in Norse Mythology and it was interesting seeing the Norse gods interact with the Greek gods.
- Good voice acting, Mostly from Richard Ayoade
- Decent Animation
- The show's intro is very creative as it utilizes the artstyle of Ancient Greece.
- Very heartwarming moments: Especially the scenes with Shlup and Hippocampus.
Bad Qualities
- The fact the show's created by Dan Harmon and was orginally his NFTs caused some controversy with the series.
- The artstyle is a watered down version of We Bare Bears.
- Hippocampus has an ugly character design.
- Some gross-out:
- A few episodes have scenes featuring characters pooping.
- Shlup's metamorphosis is very disgusting and hard to watch.
- Two episodes feature characters vomiting onscreen.
- Deleria is very a unlikable character as she's a goddess who is very full of herself, views humand as those lower than her, had sex with many men (her children Tyrannus, Stupendous, and Hippocampus all have different fathers), made it clear many times she does not care about her children, is very egotistical, selfish, and stole a baby once.
- Tyrranus sometimes whines and feels self-pity and it can get annoying
fast.
