Ladybug & Cat Noir: The Movie (also known as Ladybug & Cat Noir Awakening during early production) is an animated musical film based on Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir. It was released in France on July 5, 2023, originally planned to be released around Summer 2022.

De bonnes qualités miraculeuses (Good Qualities that are Miraculous)

  1. The movie is an actual huge improvement over the disastrous seasons 3-5, which was criticized for its abysmal and confusing ending.
  2. The animation is buttery smooth, fluid, and a huge step up to the series. The animation almost looked like The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which is just as good.
  3. Good voice acting as usual as the voice actors from the show reprise their roles.
  4. The songs are magnificent, catchy, and are great to listen to.
  5. It is faithful to the franchise and Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir, in general.
  6. Lou still does a good job as Marinette's singing voice, even in the English dub she does a solid job.
  7. Hawk Moth, unlike in the original series goes through character development and decides to imprison himself off-screen. So slightly more tolerable than his original series counterpart.
  8. Like The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, it is a musical, which Miraculous has never done before (not counting Santa Claws, although an okay episode).
  9. The visuals are nice to look at.
  10. Overall, the film managed to save the entire Miraculous franchise as a whole. And would have been a great series finale if it didn't continue past it.

Mauvaises qualités qui devraient être akumatisées (Bad Qualities that should be Akumatized)

  1. Hawk Moth, while more likable than in seasons 3-5 of the original series, still has his flaws.
  2. Adrien's song, while good, is rather cheesy, and stale.
  3. Tikki has been somewhat flanderized in this film, which eventually carried over into the series proper, fortunately, she's still likable.
  4. There is Toilet/Gross-Out Humor in the movie, especially from Plagg.

Reception

On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds an approval rating of 50% based on 14 reviews.
