Largo Winch .//Commando SAR is a 2002 third-person action/stealth game by UbiSoft and Rebellion Developments that is based on the TV series of the same name, which in turn is also based on the Belgian-French comic book series of the same name published by Dupuis.

Plot

The players take the role of the main character Largo Winch himself, who is the CEO of the W-Group. In the game's opening sequence, his newly-opened Venezuela-based chemical factory has been seized by a terrorist group known as the South American Redemption (SAR) headed by a woman only known as Ms. Fritz, who blackmails Largo into selling his factory to her. Before the seizure, Largo was going to be interviewed by a journalist named Tania Kournikova before their eventual capture by the SAR when they seized the factory and eventually planted a bomb that Largo must disarm. With the help of his colleagues Simon and Joy who are only seen during text-based dialogue sequences before the loading of each level, Largo eventually escapes capture and disarms the bomb yet Tania is taken elsewhere, and now goes after Ms. Fritz and the SAR and their plans of a takeover while also finding and saving Tania.

Why It Sucks

  1. Poor graphics and character models, especially Largo's character model, who looks like he's wearing pajamas!
  2. A terrible and non-existent plot involving a terrorist takeover.
  3. Poor controls.
  4. Generic, uninspired and lame background music.
  5. Game is very short: it only has seven levels whatsoever, with two of them being stealth missions in where you have to remain undetected.
  6. The first stealth level which is the second level has the most mundane and time-wasting tasks of all: It involves you breaking into the SAR HQ in where you have to steal documents, make copies of them, take them back to their original spot and escape.
  7. Even the poor controls do make up for the unfair difficulty levels, especially when you have to deal with the aforementioned stealth levels and time limit at the final level, forcing you to rush through the level before time runs out.
  8. The game only gives you a pistol and throwing knives, which can kill enemies, except that there are no ammo pickups for both of them!!!!
  9. And also, there are no health pickups either. You can only restore health when you die and use a continue, or you finish a level.
  10. You can't kill enemies when you knock them down with your punches and kicks. You just stun them for a short period before they regain consciousness.
  11. Awful voice acting.
  12. Terrible CGI cutscenes with horrific character models that resemble puppets with big heads, and terrible framerates that run in a snail's pace!
  13. Unsatisfying ending.

The Only Redeeming Quality

  1. The theme tune that plays in the menu and in the ending credits is pretty good.
